Chicks these days...

Elwood I had to take that top one. Maddie happens to have blue hair right now!!

Okay, not letting my setback with eggs stop me. I'm going to take what I learned and get back on the chicken saddle.

If things go well this weekend I will be picking up another dozen Dorking eggs. And I just ordered a half dozen Isbar eggs. I'm a little sick over it... not the cost of the eggs or the investment, but I'm worried about doing the best I can do to make sure they're healthy.

So cross your fingers for me!

Hi, every body.
Please help me.
This is Abdullah from Lahore Pakistan. I would like to introduce myself. I've been working as an interior designer from last 15yrs but now I wanted to change my profession.
I decided to raise chickens & goats in my backyard.
I don't have any knowledge of chickens. I went to market & bought 25 chicks of one month old. now they are 4 months old all alive & in a good healthy shape.
What i need to know that how much time they take to lay eggs ?
Second thing how much feed they need for each time for 25 chicks?
Third one there are two cocks who bite other chicks is there any technique to stop biting?
How much space in sqrft does a chick needs?
I have uploaded some pics of chicks.

Anxiously Waiting for reply.
Regards.

When they lay depends on the breed. typically 5-6 months.
Feed: I keep feed out 24/7 for growing chicks. along with 24/7 water.
Biting cocks: Are you sure they are cocks? Everyone has an opinion on how to stop it & there could be many reasons....
Space: IF they are crowded, this could be why they are picking at each other.

I would say you can read on this board to find most of your answers.

Thanks, Kass.
Kyz, me and you can both try again at the same time. I got my Gold, Dark & Light Brahma eggs and my Standard Cornish eggs today. I'll be setting them Sunday probably. Does anyone want the 6 Light Brahma eggs? They came with the auction, her birds look real nice. I don't particularly want the Light Brahmas right now.
I got this really pretty 6 month old cockerel. He's tame as a puppy :-O Croons at me and tries to feed me, comes running for food. A real sweetheart & super calm. Not a single one of my Oriental Game eggs was growing (shouldn't have put them in the Little Giant incubator). I only wanted to keep a single rooster out of the hatch & raise him myself so he'd be super tame. Even I couldn't have done as good of a job as the previous owner did with this guy. I really like him a lot.
Anyone want the Light Brahma eggs?

Wow, he's gorgeous!

Heaven knows I don't need any more eggs right now, but I'll be happy to compare notes with you as we go. We can sit and commisserate with each other over how we won't do this like we did that.
