***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Shelby or Kyz, I'll gladly save eggs from the Favs if you want. I've only had 2 chicks that hatched from siblings and BOTH developed that knee/hip problem where their legs grew out to the side. Not spraddle leg, some joint problem.
I do have Spitzhauben eggs saved up from this week. I've saved Araucana eggs, too. Sometimes Araucanas have a problem with fertility because they're rumpless. The Brahma breeder sent me so many extra Brahma eggs and i have Orloff eggs to set also. I just got the Standard Cornish eggs in the mail and don't think I'm going to be able to set them. I'd love it if you'd take those lol they're hatchery quality but would make great big chickens for processing.

Wish I was set up to take eggs, I swear I am on here two days & already wanting to do more than I had planned. This place causes me all kinds of wants!!!! Note to self: Do not get the incubator set up till spring!

I'm not sure how many generations back the inbreeding goes, but it's up to Shelbydog if she wants to try. I think she's specifically looking for d'uccles, though.

So true Kat!!!
Good to see you online! I'm happy to hear about your fruit trees and bees. They go well together : )

I'm teaching art at the middle school this year. I'm caponizing cockerels and will have them ready for market this Thanksgiving and Christmas. How's Little Sooner doing?

If you're not busy and want to go to a swap, there's one just south of Tahlequah tomorrow (Sunday). Here's a link.

I'm taking some POL pullets, a few nice cockerels, and maybe some other birds, if I can decide before I go to sleep tonight. I don't want to be making decisions about who gets to stay a little longer when I'm not fully awake.

Thanks Poco! Little Sooner is doing really good. We spend most of our time with soccer these days, but she loves it.

Sorry I missed out on your caponizing class you did, that would of been something I would have really liked. I have a couple of extra roo's that could have used it lol. Gets rather noisy here in the mornings. Tried to re-home them to the neighbors but they just came back.

POCO is this a monthly thing or every Sunday?? Have you set up at the Tractor supply here in Muskogee?

Ksane..Don told me that the Delawares are from this year's hatch so they may be sibling, half siblings or cousins...so to speak. He's old all his breeders and I got the offspring. I have two roosters and enough hens to set out two breed pens and will be working on two lines to run side by side. For your eggs, I can gather eggs from each pen, mark them accordingly and send them to you. That way, you could choose how you want to house the chicks.

In my Wyandotte pens, I take the daughters back to their sire, the best cockerel back to his mother and will breed half siblings with no issues. I don't knowingly breed full brother and sisters.
But because I am trying to increase the size of my breeding flock according to the Standard of Perfection, I cull heavily for type selecting only the best type birds for breeders.
