***OKIES in the BYC III ***

We are considering going to the Mountain View goat and sheep sale on Saturday. Anybody ever been to that? How is it and what is the quality of the goats?

We are then going to follow that up with Newcastle. Saturday is auction day this week!
We are going to Newcastle too. If I make it thru this week I will need Chicken therapy!
Mitzi, if you are going to be there I will bringUno, the guinea. He sure is pretty but he has to go because he sure is loud.

I was going to PM you and ask you if you were going to Newcastle and to bring him if you were so that works. I only have 2 of these tiny lavender keets left. They started dying the day after I got them a few wks back so I think there might've been something wrong with them. We had that lone Guinea boy for 11 yrs before I ever got any other Guineas. And that's honestly all I've wanted back. A single male Guinea. It seemed cruel to take one away from hatchmates so this works great that Uno is already a lone Guinea :) And you haven't heard LOUD until you have 4 female Guineas on your roof screaming at the top of their lungs every night at dusk :/ Give me a male Guinea any day.

Robin, the chicks are adorable!!!

Mitzi,
Sorry to hear about the keats...I helped (I promised my self that , this time, I wouldn't do that...but then did anyway) the loan survivor hatch this afternoon. Nothing obviously wrong...but then they all look goofy when still wet and curled. So, one Spitz. Oh well, better than no spitz. It will end up getting spoiled, I think - if it survives.

My frustrating day continues. We are still going round and round w/ GE over the nonworking dishwasher that we bought extra warranty for. Seems I was getting perturbed at the wrong people. I was getting very upset at GE, but it seems the appliance repair man (who is semi retired and didn't want to return with the ordered part to fix it) told GE that we "refused" the repair and were "holding out for a new replacement appliance". When it was him who told us to request a new machine (which we did not do), but GE thinks we were trying to get a new machine from them instead of a simple repair!

Any Okies from the Talihina area near the Talimena drive area????

How are the colors down there, good yet????

Gary and I are thinking about a drive down south either Tues or Wend of this coming week. I tried asking my father (from Clayton) but keep getting smart*** remarks about how pathetic Okie falls are compared to New England, haven't been able to get a straight answer.

Dealing with your farther has got to be even more frustrating than GE...at least with them, you can understand the confusion and now work through it. Other folks though....

Hey, KSANE, I see you are on...

The spitz chick is now dryish, but still on its back. How many hours might it take for a chick to straighten out and walk about - if it is going to?

What kind of incubator do you have? I haven't tried hatching any of the Spitz eggs but pretty much every egg from my own chickens that I put in my Brinsea hatches. I do dry hatches and keep the humidity in the 30’s, then at lockdown jack it up to the 80's. My 4 Cochin/Orloff that hatched supposedly 4 days late recently were put in after the others-I know that now.

My in-laws live in Honobia, I remember Clayton well! It's gorgeous down there this time of year :-0

I'd say 2 hrs tops. I've had weaker ones take 5 or 6 hrs. Try propping him upright in a washcloth or something.
