***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Bunch of enablers you all are, the whole lot of you! LOL

My other animal love is corgis. I have 4 of them. Wish I could rescue them all.

I need a sign made for my coop that says The Cluckin Corgi Ranch or something like that.
I wish i could get a Corgi. They seem like small dogs with big dog personalities. Are they easy to keep around chickens? I also would love a German Shepard but they seem like "chicken eaters". There was an absolutely beautiful Black Shepard at Newcastle auction but the whole time he stared at the birds.

That's what they are known for : big dog in a little dog suit.....and shedding. LOL.

The 4 I have now are good with the chickens and pretty much ignore them completely. However, if a chicken or duck gets cornered and panics then I have zero trust in 3 of them. The 2 corgis I lost last year are guilty of consuming 2 chickens that slept against their fence. But that was their first chicken exposure and one was a bit neurotic about all birds. Once they were exposed to a flock then had no problems.

I got a few of those redstars at the auction on Saturday and guess what? Three of the the four of them laid eggs that very night! Nice birds - and sweet too!

Hatched a little swedish flower hen chick today, it's crested like a polish!

Jeansrie, she's beautiful! I can't wait to get more SFH.

Life is good. Hubby and I celebrated our 26th anniversary yesterday with a nice dinner. Oct 2008, we nearly lost Roger when he had all those trachea surgeries and we are so grateful for his returned health and strength. We now look forward to our future with eager anticipation.
Losing two high school classmates this week makes clear the brevity of life and cements how we need to hold those we love close and hug them longer.

How soon do you know if a chick is splash? I have a Black Rosecomb mother raising two Blue chicks that are fully feathered...probably 3 to 4 weeks old. The sire is the Splash Rosecomb. I'll see if I can get some good photos. When they start laying again, I'll save and hatch eggs..
It is apparent when they hatch, I could use blue pullets but prefer the clean splash for this effort.

Congratulations. I wish you two many more years of happiness and good health.
