on the feed, from what i have read, they aren't as wasteful of it, and Sweety will hop in and fill up and hop out, glad she doesn't have feathered feet! The only ones not impressed is Boaz.

Went on the Talimena drive today, it would have been awesome, the colors we could see were amazing, but it was completely fogged in and COLD. The best most sweeping vista's were totally invisible.

I saw those Buff Brahmas there if they were the ones outside in front. Beautiful birds that I'd have loved to have but they were marked 'sold'

I adore my Silkies. Your daughter will just love them. So easy-going, mind their own business, super easy to contain because they can't fly and very funny to watch.
Not sure where you're at but there's a lady in Edmond that sells trios of show quality Silkies, all different colors. I've talked to her before, she had birds at the Newcastle show. She has a sign up at the fed store, I can get her number if you'd like.

I've got one but find it incredibly difficult to keep the temp anywhere close to stable unless it's in a room that has an exact constant temperature. My Brinseas are so much easier because I don't do anything once they're set.

Welcome! What county are you in? McClain county is having a 4h chicken show later this month. So far, my kids have shown barred rocks, but want to get into silkies as well. I have a bunch in the incubator, but If we get any trios out of them we will likely use them. However, we will welcome the competition! We have two silkies now - one of which my daughter just loves carrying around - they really are sweet birds. Good luck in your quest!

Talk to Betsy, she has some of the best silkies in the country, shows them frequently,she is a wonderful person and a real asset to the hobby. I assume you are showing in Shawnee at the OSPF show?

BetsyOK would be the one to get them from, she has high quality birds!

Hi thanks everyone, yes they were one of the trios outside in front. I know a few people had some though. She got the ones toward the end of the building. She will be doing the Mclain County show, it will be her first time and we do not know anything about how this showing stuff works so I don't think she would be prepared for Shawnee. How do I find Betsy OK, and yes please do get me the number to the lady in Edmond if you see it. Hopefully I'll be able to put a trio of silkies with Christmas bows under the tree that would be too cute Christmas cards

CROW KILLS

Researchers for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority found over 200 dead crows near greater Boston recently, and there was concern that they may have died from Avian Flu. A Bird Pathologist examined the remains of all the crows, and, to everyone's relief, confirmed the problem was definitely NOT
Avian Flu. The cause of death appeared to be vehicular impacts.

However, during the detailed analysis it was noted that varying colors of paints appeared on the bird's beaks and claws. By
analyzing these paint residues it was determined that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with trucks, while only 2% were killed by an impact with a car.

MTA then hired an Ornithological Behaviorist to determine if there was a cause for the disproportionate percentages of truck
kills versus car kills.

The Ornithological Behaviorist very quickly concluded the cause: when crows eat road kill, they always have a look-out crow in a
nearby tree to warn of impending danger. They discovered that while all the lookout crows could shout "Cah", not a single one
could shout "Truck."​
