Remember that incubator malfunction? I stuck with the eggs and this morning I had three fuzzybutts waiting on my attention! A blonde, a brunette and a redhead (or at least a chipmunk)! When I left the house there was one more pipped and another peeping but not yet pipped.

~~I can't seem to shake this sinus infection. It goes away for a couple of weeks then is back again. Guess it just seems like it is gone anyway. This is round 3. Maybe it is time for the hateful "A" word.

Yes, I have NN, they do well in the cold and even more important in our area extremely well in the hot summer. They usually lay large brown eggs and are good layers. If you process your own birds they do not have hair like other birds to have to singe off. I say usually on the egg color b/c they are a breed people like to "play" with genetically and mix w/ others for neat colors or traits like top hats and egg color.

My Showgirl is even doing great in the cold. She has her Cochin friends and 2 of her EE chicks that she hatched and brooded to keep her warm. They have a small coop full of prairie grass in a pen that has wind blocking visqueen on the North and West plus part of the East.

I am looking forward to "playing" with my birds too! I can't wait until I get my 'bator

I love having a big variety in my flock, but I'm trying not to go too crazy with it. I have decided to focus on my Brahmas and EE's. In a year or so I want to pay a FORTUNE (LOL) for breeder stock JG. That will have to wait until the girls are earning a bit more to pay for their new boy

! I also plan to get some Americana and Maran eggs from a BYCer after the first of the year.

My Husband is concerned that I am chicken obsessed!!!! As long as my obsession is bringing in some money he doesn't seem to mind TOO much LOL! Plus I "only" have 27,come on now that is hardly a flock right?

He hasn't met the rest of yet. Can you bring him to the State Poultry Show in Shawnee on Saturday? You will for sure love it and he may come to understand. It is Christmas and Birthday all rolled into one for us "Obsessed" folks.

Same for me but I have already had 2 rounds of "A", the second time with a Steroid.
