***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I'm going to throw this out there early but I'm sure POOPS is on one of the planners' mind....please please don't make it the first weekend of May.

You must really enjoy POOPS! Lol.

We put Norman and his mother out in the front forty with a few cows with calves. he really did some running and jumping and head butting with the other calves. The mom had to re-establish her position with the other cows. Last night, they were waiting at the gate to come back to the barn...but Norman was still juiced from the day and had to play King of the Mountain on the compost pile before going to bed.

Wow a long way from the barely surviving kitchen calf of a few weeks ago!

NotSuperWoman, I wouldn't charge you for her. She was a bonus to go with the two sisters of hers that I bought. Just give her a good home.
@Kyzmette I know you offedred to bring her to Tulsa... but I really won't be able to meet you at any time. It is very rare that Iactually have our vehicle. I really can come out on Saturday to pick her up if that would work for you. I can drop my hubby off at work in down town and come your way.

Let me know if that works.

You can get hatching eggs at the OSU extension? wow is that all of them or just yours? that would be great if ours did that!!!

Two months a year they do a classroom project. Teachers and homeschool families can rent an incubator and then buy a dozen or two dozen eggs to hatch. They are meant for edcuational purposes to show students about growing embroys..

But the eggs are the broiler chickens. Alot of the teachers get upset when they actually try to raise the hatched chicks as classroom pets and they lose the cute baby stage so quick. I try to hatch at least 2 dozen and put a few chickens in the freezer.

Call the OSU Tulsa 4H office and ask for Gretta if you are in Tulsa County.

I don't know about other counties but it would not hurt to call and ask.

Howdie!

I got back from Texas last night around 10:30. The round-trip drive from Haskell to El Paso usually takes two days, but with rain, ice, and fog, I was not able to drive the speed limit, so the journey took three days. My grandson enjoyed our stay at a Best Western Plus. He had a king-sized bed and the control of a huge flat-screen TV. "This is luxury," he told me. It made me happy to see him enjoy himself on the long drive.

DH took care of my flock while I was gone. All the birds are doing great. He's a little congested : (

I need to catch up on posts and then go back out to finish filling water buckets.

Welcome back Poco! I am glad you had a great trip! Sorry the ice and rain made it longer, but glad you made it there and back safely. And I love the rooster!

@NotSuperWoman I currently have her under healthwatch since I picked her up at the Shawnee show, and I wouldn't be comfortable passing her off until I'm sure everything is good with her. Another issue is that my schedule is always so jam-packed, it seems like I never have room to breath. I have to make myself take time away so I can go to chicken shows with my chicken hoarder friend, Shelbydog (she needs somebody with her in case she gets too intoxicated by the chicken possession potential and passes out). Give me a couple more weeks with her just to be sure, and we can arrange something, either me bringing her to you or you coming to get her. I'm good either way.

Saturday we'll be going to a show out of town... I think it's the rabbit/poultry show in Muskogee. Dusti, correct me if I'm wrong.

Anybody else going? Anybody else want to come along?

Ok. Sounds good. I appreciate you taking that measure. :)

Ooooo... a show in muskogee? Do tell. I might have to break away myself. I am like you my schedule is so jam packed I never get to do what I really want to do. A few times a year I buck the whole system and tell everyone else to bug off and drag the family to what I want. :)

I'm finally moved to my 10 acres in Marlow. I got a rooster. He won't stop crowing! He started at about 4am and keeps it up all day. We have a city light in the backyard. I think that's confusing him. We put cardboard up in the window and door of the coop but it didn't seem to help much. I might try putting him in something small so he can't stretch out to crow, but that seems cruel. Does anybody have any ideas to keep him from crowing until dawn? I don't mind it during the day but 4am is too early!
