***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I'm looking for speckled sussexs; also. Let me know what you find out. I would go in with you on some pullets if you order. I think you get better quality from different hatcheries though. But that's just my opinion.

I have Corronatoin Sussex but would like just 1 Speckled Sussex just for my laying flock - I love spotted birds.

Sonny is starting to really look good, was doing his feet, rinse and neosporin and part of a toe came off, the pad under a nail, hopefully the nail will stay- he is really turning into a chow hound-

Jeanrie-that picture you posted is a hen?? That's a big comb and wattles for a hen, I didn't realize BR's had such big combs.
Kass, I read a study once on dog breeding and it said pups get 75% of their personalities from their mothers. I wouldn't doubt it's the same with chickens.

I just found it odd that the boys got personalties from the moms, not the dads and seemingly from hatch since they didn't have contact w/ biomoms growing up. I wondered if there was some consistency to boys inheriting more personality from moms.

My Wheaten Ameraucanas and my one Blue Ameraucana are all flighty but 3 of their offspring are very friendly - two little pullets will jump in my food and treat buckets and talk to me nonstop. The one young cockerel remaining from this past Summer's hatchings follows me everywhere to the point of getting in the way (until I give him a handful of treats). I call him Shadow and was planning on selling him in a trio but he is so friendly and pretty I think I will have to keep him and the 2 girls. Some of the others from this group are extremely shy...?

True5 that is something respiratory. Chickens have no room in their sinuses so respiratory problems manifest in the eyes. Could just be a cold or it could be something more serious. Treat with Tetroxy HCA, Gallimycin, or Denagard in the water or with a shot of Tylan in the breast muscle. Since you've exposed your whole flock I would suggest cutting to the chase and treating the whole flock NOW.
