Forgot to post the picture of my Asil boy. I will have to caponize him and his brother because they're supposed to be aggressive with other males when they're adults. He's sure a sweetie now though. His brother is gray and red and way pretty.

I love Hank the Cowdog too. John Erikson actually reads them and when he sings it it hilarious! I have t-shirt that says Ranch Security with a drawing of Hank
Quote: Who is going to enforce the federal statute when your state official follows state law? Eagles and falcons are off limits as in both sate and federal statute.
Shooting at a hawk on the ground with your bird in its talons is safer than shooting at one in a tree or in the air since a shell velocity is not lost. Unless the hawk or owl is tagged with a tracking device, I doubt that anyone will come looking for it.
i sure like your logic! Been in alot of discussions lately on FB on the issue and you make alot more sense!!
@TRUE5 this little frizzle has one thing on her mind, sit on the shoulder- she's not happy unless she is out of the cage and perched like a parrot- she is twice the size of Gizmo, i know she is a frizzle, is she cochin? or any idea? And Sonny is outside now in a quarantine pen, and seems to be doing fine on those feet![]()
Quote: Saw a biathalon event where they ski a course and then shoot. That was cool, as you are mixing the speed and stamina along with the steadiness and accuracy of the shooting portion.
I use pine wood chips, the small, fine kind. I use hay outside when it's really wet to cover mud puddles, but I don't generally use it in nest boxes. What does everyone use as nesting material in their nest boxes....straw, hay...wood chips?
Both the Wyandotte and Cochin roosters are beautiful.I had to make another Boy Yard unexpectedly today, the 2 Gold Laced Cochin boys have been in a 10x10 pen with one of my Faverolles/Orloff boys but yesterday 1 Cochin boy started picking at his brother. This particular Fav/Orloff boy in with them is really good with younger boys so I put him in my favorite 50x50 yard with 3 juvie boys and the 2 boys I got from Kass. I love that yard because the tree covers the entire yard and in the summer the branches hang down almost to the ground and it's real cool under there. It's like a cave with streaks of sun shining through, it's so pretty. Anyway, for now since they're all getting along they'll stay together.
If anyone wants this Blue Laced Red Wyandotte (4 1/2 mo old) or this Gold Laced Cochin boy (8-9 mo) let me know. The 2nd BLR Wyandotte has the wrong comb but the one in the picture has a proper cushion comb. Both are really pretty, the Wyandotte is at that awkward stage but he'll fill out nice. If no one wants them I'll caponize them when I get some practice in. The young Asil in this group is wonderful! He's like a puppy and I really like him a lot. Your boys are behaving very nicely with these other boys, Kass. I think the trick is putting them all together in a big enough yard without girls. Please-let me know if anyone would like the Wyandotte or Cochin boy.

So sorry, I have had something similar happen. I was horrified about all the chicks I lost.@true I'm so glad your letting me have the little boy back. Sometime this morning between glancing out the window at 6 am and doing chores at 9 am my extension cord to my brooder got loosened. Lost 16 chicks, mainly isbars but also a cream legbar pair I had tagged to keep, one black copper, and one barnevelder.at least I didn't lose any chicks marked for other people. Makes me sick. I usually check brooders first but didn't today.![]()
