***OKIES in the BYC III ***

The Coweta auction is supposed to be big this Fray, February 21st.  Is anyone planning to go?

Meeee! Oooooh, meeeee! Meeeeee!

Oh hey, you want to unload a bundle of Minorcas?

I had my back turned for just a minute. They all escaped the brooder. Look at them scheming. Hilarity ensues.

See the one on the far left? I have her twin! They were still unnamed today, and when I picked her up earlier I was admiring the coloration and I said "Girl, you look like you're on fire." And then what I said hit me, and her name became Katniss.

I was out getting some sun and feeding the flock some mealworms and I saw the coolest thing... Floyd, my roo, would come up and take a worm from my fingers, run over to one of his favorite girls, and drop it on the ground in front of her, then repeat the gesture with another hen. He didn't start eating them himself until he had treated at least five of the girls. He's awfully good to his ladies.

See, aren't chickens amazing! It just sounds so cool.. My roos always wait and let the girls eat first, but I haven't seen them give their hens a treat. I';; try it with mealworms tom. Only thing is my hens are so greedy they surrond me and it's hard to make sure they all get some.
Imight go tothe Coweta auction to try to find another goose. I finally took my two new ones out of quarantine today and put JC my timid gander in with them. I've been watching them until about 20 minutes age. He picked his mate or she piced him. Sigh. Now I need to find one or two more. The rest of the boys got into quite a squabble, they aren't happy If I would of known about the action in Newcastle Iwould of had someone buy a goose for me if thy had one. My son only lives 6 miles from there, so he could of taken the money. Oh well.

I now have my only female Cream Legbar acting like she is over heated. I raised the light so hopefully it will be ok but how do you know if they are so hot that it's too late to help them? She is breathing heavily, panting. She's the only one doing this and the others are acting like the temp was perfect. Crud. I hope she doesn't die.

I will probably be at the Coweta auction with my husband. We need to get a new home for these buff cochins. I hope it's still nice and warm that evening!

We'll, we are settled in watching Hillbilly Blood on TV and reading Facebook. Gracie is snoring in her dog bed and Red is on his back with all feet in the air in his dog bed. The chickens are all snug in their coops, three broody hens are expecting chicks beginning tomorrow...and the weather is going to be nice this week.....all is right with the world.

Great chickie pictures....ya'll keep sharing.

No we wont be keeping the buffs. He's starting to fight our Lav Orp cockerel and keeps pulling neck feathers on the pullets... they aren't of age to be getting this kind of attention yet.

I have a few places in the tub that are cooler that she could run to. I don't understand how but I guess maybe she did get too hot. She's like the person who has to have the air conditioner way up while everyone else is shivering...

Yep, I'll be there but think the hubby is skipping this week.
It is almost 10pm, hubby drove by and confirmed.... darn it, I have a few roosters I'd love to find new homes for. Anyway, cant go as son has a friend over. :( Oh well, hatching some marans eggs I got at the Blanchard auction 3 wks ago. This is the first hatch post modifying the temp in my gcf and they are hatching on time/day early and more of them and stronger/quicker. I am liking this!
