***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Wonderful pictures!!! Rinda, my Gold Laced Brahma boy is the same age and looks just like yours. I only got 2 Gold Laced boys and a Dark Brahama girl from my hatch last fall, 1 of the boys died. I sure love Brahmas. Kass, the pictures of your naked necks with their hats on just crack me UP!! rofl!! They really are beautiful birds though.
I did break down and set 4 Malay eggs. I just couldn't bear the thought of *not setting them, I want more so bad. They're such huge and friendly birds. I'll be learning to caponize soon and if I have to I can always caponize the Malay boys if I can't find them homes.
Robin, I had an eggbound Serama girl today also, one of the new ones we just got. I noticed when I got her that she looked prolapsed so unfortunately it may become a big problem for her. I'll look into injections to stop her from laying or something. She's such a sweet tiny thing. That egg was huge and stuck, too. The entire egg was out along with the inside of her vent, it was scary. I took a pair of small scissors and made a tiny cut to get the thing out. She's doing great and was incredibly relieved! But I'm keeping her in the dark so she won't lay until I can figure out a solution to get her to quit laying. Hopefully there's an injection.

Well, Gizmo is back to normal, she is a micro, and very seldom lays, which my be the issue, i have put calcium in her water, and will be watching her close she is about 2
, so maybe she will quit laying all together soon. The shell was also soft, kind of gritty, so maybe thats a hint
Quote: that s scary, as we have two big dogs, one loose at a time, haven't seen coyotes recently but do hear coyotes and foxes, they run the perimeter of the property then yapping and howling, wonder if that is what they are doing?

well, last hatch was a no go- sigh- glad i didn't pay for the eggs, it was an egg swap- looks like the only one to develop stopped at about a week, all of the eggs had detatched cells

I'm still around fellow Okies :). Just showing what I'm working with.

You know you are on chicken forums too much when you see "LF" on your grocery receipt and cannot for the life of you figure out what it means because the only thing that comes to mind is Large Fowl.... then it hits you- the rest of the world reads "Low Fat" when they see LF!

Look what this poor little serama girl laid- felt so sorry for her, she slept in my lap a long time after her bath for eggbinding, and decided to lay it in my lap

I'm glad to hear that she came through. Poor little girl. I can't even imagine what the experience would have been like for a person

Got Game - I lost the cell phone that had contact information for Monty. Have you tried Poultryandbees? She may know the number.

Picture overload time! Sorry in advance if you have a slow connection!!

Cream Legbar cockerel I am keeping for myself.

Will you have Isbar pullets for sale soon? That's a handsome, handsome CL. Very nice : )

Is this the brother of the cockerel you're bringing on the 16th? Handsome dude, and amazing photos. Thanks for posting : )

Coyote Encounter
You are truly a Pioneer Woman. I hear coyotes morning and evening, but I haven't seen any close to the barn. Vesta's voice gets louder and lower when she's warning predators to stay back. I don't know what I would have done if I'd seen coyotes so close. Lady Smith may need to accompany me to the barn in the evenings.
