***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Posting this for Rome24kr. If anyone is interested in some show quality RIR Bantam birds, or a Barred Rock pullet or a Partridge Rock pullet you might send him a PM to discuss details. He lives in Shawnee

I'm going to purchase his two Delaware Bantam hens that his daughter has shown.

Congratulations Kass on Rudy and his/her improved status

MJ glad to hear your Sussex is doing so good.

Of my RIR Bantam Order of 15 chicks I got 16 lively ones. The very next day, one up and gave up the ghost for no reason that I could see. 3 others had 'Pasty Butt', which I immediately upon notice checked them all out and cleaned the dirty ends with warm water and Q-Tips. Then dried them with toilet paper, and doctored their ends with Neosporin. Today they are running to and fro like little speed demons. I tried sexing them. Pretty sure I've got between 2 to 6 pullets. I was hoping for more, but guess I'll have to raise my own. Here is a beauty of a potential Roo.

@Sagetown never heard of using neo for that, but will keep that in mind- do diet changes help them with it??

Your post just gave me a clue as to why teachers are attracted to chickens - the stinkeye - we are very practiced at giving the stinkeye!
Teachers are the masters of stinkeye, we learn it in college, there is a whole class devoted to stinkeye... There is...

I'm excited about next Saturday! Muesky and I will leave OKC at about 10:00 and will bring some Maran's and Turkey eggs to sell. We will bring chairs this time. Those bleachers get hard after several hours.
All 6 of the 6 BLRW eggs Rebecca bought there were fertile, as were the 12 OE and 20 of the 24 EE eggs we bought.

Oh I hope, I hope, I hope!!! I so want a few BLRW pullets.. That would be a wonderful addition to my layer flock...

Newly arrived chicks are usually just stressed, but older chicks that develope those symptoms may benifit from diet change . Both Neosporin and vasoline are mentioned in [Raising Chickens, page 330] as soothing protection for tender behinds after cleanup, so I'm trying it.:/

My guess is neosporin and vasaline are both common household items, both are a salve, and therefore both offer protection from the poo sticking to the feathers.
