Nanakat gotta tell a story that the lost calf reminded me of. A friend of mine is a rancher and he had lost Queenie his cow dog so he was training a new pup. One sat. morning Richard went out to the pasture to check cattle and saw that his Longhorn cow had calved so he was going to check on the calf. They got about 20 yards from the calf and then got out of the truck to go up on foot as usual. Always talking to his dogs and told the pup that the calf needed checked out when they were about ten yards out. Of course the pup runs ahead and starts to bring the calf to him which catches mama's attention. I guess that Richard had just got the door to the truck shut when she hit the side of it. LOL

Here is my "you are late with breakfast again" crew yesterday morning.

I would love to see that many chickens at my door.
Seems to me that chickens hang out, after hours, with cats and pick up that attitude from them.

After my long evening outside, I was only awake till 10:15 and then slept til 9:30. I never ever sleep that late. Now it is back outside. First I will help Jack box up about a hundred chicks that he is taking to the Blanchard auction.

I started helping Jack sort and box up chicks about 6 years ago. After about 10 Saturdays of picking up week old chicks I sucumed to getting chickens of my own. Jack is a master at enabling. Now he even has my DH hooking him up with chick buyers from work.

My guess is neosporin and vasaline are both common household items, both are a salve, and therefore both offer protection from the poo sticking to the feathers.

I use neosporin (triple antibiotic ointment) all the time and always keep plenty available. It works great for pasty butt.

Be careful if you have a pet door. A couple of turkey hens figured mine out but Stella and Stanley (mini dachshunds) were having no part of that and keep them from using it. They draw the line on big birds in the house... hehehe!

Jack is one of my favorite enablers.... He was trying to talk me into getting a big sportsman incubator the other day... I so do not need one of those.... My place would be over run with chickens.... Waist deep at the very least... hehehe!

It's these here, Les. You said Orientals so I'm not sure if you meant the Malay also. I'll post his next. These are various pictures of the Shamo/Asil and the 2 hens he's with.

(edited to add-I'd like to place the Malay 1st becuz he's so big and needs more room than a 10x10 pen. If I can place him I'd like to keep the Asil mix.
