***OKIES in the BYC III ***

@mjgigax one of my girls i got from you has gone broody she has one egg that is hers and tree polish eggs i have not been able to collect because when i put my hand in she pecks me so i just let her have them. So we will see how it goes.

she jump off, when i put feed in the feeder so that is how i know how many are under her.
They are so sweet till they turn into a Broody Monster. I had 11 Cochins broody all at one time last Summer. So far I have avoided that but I'm just waiting.

How do you tell if a hen is broody, I have a LF Cochin who has been sitting for the past three days (she is sitting on ceramic eggs right now), Would it be safe to give here some of the eggs i have in my incubator so she could hatch them, or do you have to wait a week or so to make sure she really is going to set on the eggs. She came out once yesterday, to eat, drink and poop.

So sorry for your losses. We've all been there, but that doesn't help much. Glad you got right on fixing the problem.

Sounds like she's truly broody. They come out once or twice daily, briefly. Does she fuss at you when you come too close?

Kass,is Rudy smaller than the others? I love the barred/penciled bird behind him in a few photos - his/her bowtie is white!

He is about middle size, I have several big ones and small ones, he is about in the middle.

I like that one too, she looks a lot like a girl I gave to Dusti.

I do have other chickens, besides Rudy, here's proof, lol

This boy so far is pretty even black / white ratio, w/ very splotchy patterning.

This girl I think is so pretty

This little boy is going to be small, has araucana father, I think his color is going to be striking, he hatched from a green egg, has a pea comb, and the pea comb/nn feather coverage.

I love this girls coloring

This boy also has araucana heritage and tufts!

Love this girls look

Is she going to be mottled?

The rain has brought out the worms. You can imagine the party going on in the Hen Pen.

Yes she puffs up and growls at me. I checked and she had 2 of her own eggs in there, so i took out the ceramic eggs and put 6 SLW eggs under here and she just accepted them and did not move. She is in a coop with 2 other hens and a rooster (they are a quad). Should i put food and water close to her so she can get to it without having to go outside.
