***OKIES in the BYC III ***

No kidding! If there weren't so many great breeds in so many different colors maybe I could feel done. I just need 1 of everything

Naw, just a bunch of Naked Necks. LOL

heh i can imagine. Are they both gobblers?

You can't tell sex for like 3-4 months on turkeys.

My Showgirl died today. She had been doing better but........ She was always small, I wonder if she was a weak hatch?  She was such a sweetheart. I will miss her a lot. I do have her brother and eggs under my Blue girl, Ezmeralda, so I hope I get more like her.

:hugs I'm so sorry. I know how special she was to you. I've had several birds that just stayed thin and didn't seem to do well for as long as a year and then they'd die. I've never had an explanation for it. It's hard knowing you're going to lose them but still hoping all along you're wrong.

well it has been a long time since i have been on here. I hope everyone is doing well. We still do not have chickens yet. working on redoing our house, then we are going to convert our shed into a chicken coop. but while we are in the middle of all of that we are working on getting a raised garden set up. currently I just have Peppermint, Cilantro and Basil in containers, all seperated. I will probably get more herbs next Saturday when I go back to the Farmers Market. I might also pick up a tomato plant, even though there are only 3 out of 9 people in my house who eat them constantly, but we cook with tomatoes a lot. I hope everyone had a great Saturday.

Thank you! I had been pinching off blooms and did not that tomatoes don't sett fruit above 90*! No wonder I didn't get much fruit these last couple of years. It rarely is in the 90*s for long periods of time in MI and my first year gardening in OK, when I got loads of tomatoes from my garden, was a mild Summer.

The girls amaze me, with how resilient they are! My polish hen, Einsteina, has a crest covered in mud, so I had to clean her up, today, and I noticed how good chickens are with the weather.
I know that when it's stormy, I plop myself down at my desk and draw/write/surf the interwebs. Screw the bad weather!

But the girls get up, like clockwork, and go about their day!  I have chickens for role-models. I keep telling myself that my chickens do more in a day than I do! :gig

Oh yeah, you are not kidding, they don't let nothing stop them, when it come to a treat..:weee

I'm so sorry Mary Jo. I think their tiny bodies leave them only enough room for a long, healthy life, or a sweet and loving personality. What's that old saying about those who burn the brightest....

Sing a song for POOPS: Rain, rain, go away on Saturday. The ducks won't mind, but the rest of us will get wet.

We will watch the weather closely. If it's going to rain on Saturday, then we'll need to have a plan. Postponing to another day is one possibility. I'm hoping the storm will pass, and that we'll have a dry day on the 14th.
