***OKIES in the BYC III ***

they are super worms but they will pupuate if you stress them out by putting them in a place with no food and no water
I tried them, it was too difficult to keep them alive through pupation and adulthood! I thought the same about my meal worms when all my adults died, but I just discovered a TON of small meal worms in there some already an inch long!

We like our mini rex alot but they're not heat tolerant and I always feel bad in the summer that he's stuck inside

(plus bunny pee is NOT my favorite smell) we love him lots but haven't come up with a good housing system for him. Mostly he lives in a cage with an hour of run around time a day. I'd love to know if anyone else raises non heat tolerant rabbits and how they do it?
we had a little duch bunnie and we had it inside for a little bit because it was kind of cold outside then my husband said it was time for it go out side becaue it was getting warm enough we put it outside in a huch and it died the next day I have no idea why it seemed helthy before that. Before that we had a bunnie and some dog rip out the bottom of the huch and killed it. My husband grew up with no animals in the house and he dosen't like animals in the the house but he dose let my one cat stay inside because i said if i didn't have at least one animal inside i would go insane, lol.

Your husband sounds like mine! The bunny is his mini-mes favorite animal tho, so he just can't say no

And we killed 2 bunnies before figuring out heat was a huge issue here

Not taking any chances with this one! I just need a better set up.

   in a pinch it works, the idea is they know you as the bringer of treats...
they really are, i was surprised as yogi was so bad last nite, when i found her, she could barely stand or hold her head up, and for the longest time wouldn't open her eyes-
lol, I can recall a few times when I was scrambling in the fridge/pantry/cabinets for something ANYTHING to feed to the chickens. No particular reason other than the desire to make them love me...With bribes.

I wonder what breeds are more heat tolerant ?

I saw them a POOOPs, We have tried to keep some pet ones a couple of times and had bad luck but my grils want to try agin but i want a small breed.

If I were going to do pets, I would do some small froo froo breed and spay or neuter for tempermant for sure. These guys aren't mean at all but in doing research there are lots out there that are.

My goal is for heat tolerance. From what I understand it is a numbers game, breeding in the heat of summer and keeping the most successful for a few generations of doing that.

we saw some frech angora at an aution, the girls realy wanted them but we didn't win the bid kind of gald we didn't becausei don't know how hard it would have been to keep there hair tangle free. I really like the look of duch rabbits but on of my girls said they wanted a mini lop. I don't know what we will end up with kind of in the reshurch phase right now.

I believe the angora is one breed you can harvest "wool" from w/o killing it, if you have any girls interested in fiber arts / fiber making. They can be litter box trained I understand.
