***OKIES in the BYC III ***

there are ways to work with egg eaters, increasing the protein and i wonder if the canibalizing may be a hint also-

check with nanacat on replacements, she has some wonderful gentle birds

Thank you artsyrobin. She went to a good home and to someone who knows a lot more than I do about birds and has a much larger flock. I should add that she was also terrorizing one of my Silkies to the point she would not even come out of the coop. :0(

yeah, i keep my silkies away from the main flock, they are such sweet little birds. Its good you found a good home, i decided awhile back to get the more docile breeds, it makes a difference, depending on your goals- cochins and silkies are high on my list- i did have a new hampshire red that was a bit of a bully, and of course there are always those that don't fit the breed descriptions ...LOL!

I shamelessly fed it to them so they would like me and think I was cool

I'm not making the mistake I did last year and going into winter with baby chicks. Not fun!
She's a Silver Campine or Egyptian Fayoumis. I don't know which one as I've never owned them and they look the same to me
ok thanks for the info

If anyone is still wanting Pinto guineas, My birds have still been laying but prob not for long. I have 2 dozen of eggs ready now. IM if you want them. Make me a offer

I have a few Easter Eggers, supposed to be true Ameracaunas, that I got in a large order, from one of the big hatcheries online, a while back. They were hatched around June 20-22. Yesterday, I was given two more, EE's from Kyzmette (Thanks again), and since the subject of gender came up, on hers, I would kind of like to identify the gender, on the four I previously had. But, one, I just can't seem to get a good photo on. The other three, here, seem to be more friendly, and enjoy attention.
Any help identifying gender, would be appreciated.
And, if I'm wrong about them being EE's please let me know. It was a large order, and I was told we got 5 Ameracaunas, then we lost one, to a predator. And, nearly lost the black and white one, to a sinus infection. But, it is now looking much healthier, and as of yesterday, the weepy eye, has cleared up, nicely. We just need it to catch up, on feathering, and growing out.
Take a look at these photos, and tell me your thoughts on gender.
Thanks, in advance!

Where could I pick up? I live near Tulsa but am headed to Oklahoma City on Sept 11 if I could meet you that morning about 11ish. I'm headed from Coweta to Yukon but wouldn't mind a short jog out of the way. I made the mistake of raising my guinea chicks from Atwoods with the chickens, and then when I released them into the woods they kept trying to get back in to the chicken yard and my dogs got them.

I'm down to 1 out of 6. Bought some eggs at POOPS this spring, only 5 hatched out of 2 dozen, they all died within a few days. There were lots of stinkers and cracked eggs in that batch and I think the eggs contaminated my incubator, I lost almost all my chicks for several hatches before I pulled the plug and did a thorough disinfection. So frustrating. But I still want some guineas- only I can never find any near me! Maybe I can snag some at the next Coweta auction.

BOY?^ Comb height says girl but it's quite reddish and the legs are suspiciously thick, and the tail feathers look elongated and curved.

BOY^

Sorry, :( I'm one of those people that chickens turn into roosters when I look at them....

Sharkman, I think they are all boys, the first one may possibly be a girl, would need to see the color pattern on the side and legs, they comb says girl, but may just be a slower developing boy.
