***OKIES in the BYC III ***

erinszoo...Since you won't be using the bottles a third time. Simply write on the screw top lid what flavor of wine you have or use a strip of masking tape on the bottle. Also good idea to write the month and year bottled so you can rotate your produce.

Well surgery is scheduled for Monday but I won't know the time u till the final call on Friday. Still have a few projects to complete before I'm down for the recovery. Last shoulder reconstruction too about 8 weeks with therapy. Hoping this one is quicker.

Will have to butcher the quail that are ready to free up some space for those in the brooder. There is actually going to be a hatch due the day of surgery!

I'm not going to be in a hurry to move out birds unless someone is eager to pick them up. The pens are set and the birds are returning to them each evening after free ranging. Let me know.

Bottled the green tomato wine, I had a little over a gallon left after the explosion during an earlier racking. It is a pretty yellow. Tastes good even before the aging. I decided to bottle in quart canning jars, easy to find the lids and easy to clean and sterilize.

Now on to the chocolate wine. I am researching recipes, I will likely hybridize a couple gather a few supplies and start a batch in the next week or so.

This is awesome!

Where do you find the information on these types of projects? I've never even heard of tomato wine, but I would love to try it.

So, I am thinking there are definitely no frizzled. :(

Any guesses on their final coloring? I am also pretty certain that there are two black ones. (I hope one is male and the other female.) The bantam (smaller one in pic of two) I am guessing is partridge. The rest may be too, although one is more grey/silver and one is considerably lighter.

I think all your guesses are spot on. Bummer on the no frizzles. It would be very apparent at this point on their wing feathers. I have a young black cochin cross frizzle roo if you want him. ;)

ya ever have one of the days...LOL! Ok the coop is attached to the back of the house, off the porch are the duck runs, on the porch 8 guineas sleep, and the silkies- so we are having a quiet evening, the dogs start going, they patrol the pens at nite- the guineas are dead quiet, highly unusual, all the silkies are in full alarm mode- the same with the coop- i go out can't see anything, glance up towards one of the shelves and am eye to eye with a possum! Geeze!! Hubby shoves him off the porch and set the trap, i go in to check the birds in the coop, pick up a little cochin and trip - break a roost going down and skin my face up.... sigh... never boring around here.....

so far Galahad hasn't shown any aggression toward Oreo, i may be lucky and have a girl! But, when oreo is out, she isn't shy about standing up to the others- she and little charlie the red cochin capon must have a personality clash, they go after each other right away

I have a splash sizzle chick available that is almost 3 weeks old that has a single comb instead of walnut comb. Its still way too young to sex, but if anyones interested let me know! Im planning to put the sizzle and a few silkie chicks on CL this weekend.

How old are these guys? My frizzle didn't show up until he was probably three weeks old or more. We didn't even try for one. He happened to be the lone chick in a bantam pen at the feed store and we felt sorry for him and took him home. Now he's a toot, running around like he owns the place.

Hey robyn, your little girl won a blue ribbon at the fair this year. She is quite the looker and such a toot.
