***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Yep! I was going to send you a message and was hoping you were going. I miss Phtheven, but quality chicken-lady company is a treat!

Anybody else going to Coweta? Rinda? I ran out of honey! That BA stuff was the bee's knees. Anybody taking children?

I just realized I brain farted and may have double scheduled myself for Friday. :/ I may excuse myself from my other plans and come anyway... it's looking like a long week and I could use the break. If I come I can bring honey- I have about 3 gallons left, in quart jars, and about 6 pints and 12 one pounders left. $16.50 per quart, $8.50 per pint, $6 per one pound squeeze bottle. I've got a few of you down already and will bring what we discussed. The honey is mainly Coweta and Catoosa honey.

@artsyrobin I met Dustin today. He's got two porcelain hens to go with the little d 'Uccle roo. I'm taking the roo for delivery on Wednesday.

@Kyzmette Your boy is ready to go home. He's bored and alone. Are you going to be at the sale in Coweta on Friday? I can meet you there.

@Kassaundra Love Rudy's new duds. What a handsome guy. I'm with Nana. I think photo #3 is a winner. You should start looking for contests to enter.

Mitzi - Leon is a proud papa. He has two hens sharing a nest with three eggs and one new chick. I don't have pictures of the baby yet, but boy oh boy did Leon put on a display!

i am glad our little guy will have a harem of his own!!

now this boy is gorgeous!! Betcha the chicks are going to be beautiful!

Oh, he's so beautiful! I can't remember now how the frizzle gene works. But when their feathers start coming in is when you can tell if they're frizzled or not. Leon was solid black until he was 3 mo or so then started getting gold on his neck. He's colored up a ton since you've had him. What a proud papa.

I've tried incubating egg after egg from my favorite rooster (my Serama, Channing). They'd start to grow and then stop about day 5, so disappointing. So when his hen wanted to sit awhile back I let her and put 2 of their eggs under her. I candled them tonight and they're both growing :) I think it's right about day 12. I want Baby Channings so bad.

seramas seem to hatch better under a broody than a bator
Channing tries flirting and flirting with her and she just puffs up and gripes at him lol So he's been spending time in the windows seat without her.

@Poco Pollo , here's Leon's baby picture lol I think they were a few months old here. That was last winter when they were babies, I'll never have chicks in the winter again.

I love Leon's color!

Hope Channing becomes a proud poppa too.

Put the Beau lookalike in with the Columbian Wyandotte hens two weeks ago. They have started laying nicely so put test eggs in the incubator yesterday. Hoping we have good fertility and vigor. Will be telling if the chicks pop out on time. He is 11 months old and already acting like a great lady's man. The girls heed his calls for treats and even the 5 year old hens dote on him.

We had two new calves before the rains hit yesterday. Both were running with their tails in the air this morning...so fun to watch.

The winds blew down the old snag by the crawdad pond. That tree has been a part of the scenery for the past 17 years...the crows will miss that roost.

How many watts is best to candle.I have some olive eggers with real thick shells I can't see through.I have a brooding hen that has hatched 15chicks she started with 20eggs yesterday I found empty shells and no chicks this morning I heard piping SO I watched as the chick started to zip out the hen reached down and pulled the chick out before I could get the pin open she ate the chick why would she DO this

Have a funny story that just happened. To understand you need to know both my cats are addicted to whipped cream. They know when I have coffee, they know the can by sight, they know the sound from down the street! lol Anyway Pebbles came up to me w/ a mouse, meowed at me then started walking towards the spot they get their whipped cream and waited until I got the can out of the fidge to kill and drop his mouse. I believe he was both trading and threatening. Trading dead mouse for whipped cream, and threatening if he didn't get his whipped cream to release it alive into the house.
maybe he wanted whipped cream on his mouse, and wanted it to be fresh, lol

Rudy the rudester in his new duds I made today in a sleep deprived state

Nice outfit. But he doesn't look to happy in his new suit. Guess he'll just have to get used to it. BTW, can he still do the deed with his suit on?
