***OKIES in the BYC III ***

@lonnyandrinda that's some serious molting on the Spitz, looks like my poor Dark Brahma girls. 1 of them is bald as a cue ball.
I went and got some bird hand-feeding formula at Petco for little MiniB. It's packed with a lot more protein and nutrients than chick feed mixed with water. I have to use a syringe and push a tiny bead of the liquid food up and touch his beak to it. A bead of the liquid is bigger than his little beak. I got probably 30 beak fulls into him and he actually has a teeny crop now. He tries to peck at the syringe, he knows it's food. Gawd, he's so adorable :love
I'm starting to let myself hope he'll make it. His weight is still the same, 11 grams. He should start gaining now, I'll feed him every hour during the day. Have you ever seen a 3" chick stick its little backend out and poop? lol

My d'Anver and OEGB babies are so cute, but the teeny tiny quail are like MiniB. They are about 1.5 inches when hatched. I grind the baby crumble in the coffee grinder and add fish meal for the extra protein. let me know if you need some...I will share...quickly.

What kind do you have. I added a digital thermometer with a humidity scale to my Hovabators...really helps

Farm innovators 4200 that we got from lumber 2. We have friends who had have great success with it. Hoping it will last! It seems so flimsy!

Butbutbutbut.... I would have put her in with Juliette.

And look! Coral, you"ll appreciate this. I kept Phtheven isolated for a week then put him in the Litttles pen yesterday. He went right back to his best friend!

I miss little Pphhtthheevennnn, but I'm glad he's with friends. He was getting lonely here.

The swap at Caney Ridge looked great, but we couldn't stay. I picked out the three little pigs I'd traveled for, paid, and put everyone back in the truck. We rushed home, put the piglets in their new pen, had lunch, and then loaded up the goose and drove to Okemah. Ashtree - Your husband reminds me of someone I knew ages ago. Quiet, reserved, attractive in a beard (something that doesn't work for all men), soft-spoken, fluid in his transition from adult talk to kid talk. He went into the Peace Corps after college, and I don't know where he ended up. I've heard we all have a double somewhere. Maybe it's true.

I'll take piggie portraits after work. They're going to need names. Put your "clever" caps on and offer your suggestions tomorrow.

Hambone, Porkie short for PorkBelly, Bacon, Sugar short for Sugar Cured, Hickory smoked.

I'm still not able to buy an incubator. And if I want any kind of good production, I know I will need one. Hopefully, money will be better, soon, and it is one of the first "chicken/poultry" things to buy, when money gets better. Once I am set to do so, I'll let everyone here know. I know of several, already, who want chicks.

I totally understand the money situation deal Lol. I just got my incubator ordered today, but it was a gift from a family member.
