***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Not a mark on him or hair out of place. Only s/sx was he vomited x2 yesterday, day before just fine. I thought he had worms so went to the vets today to get some meds, was waiting for him to come home, got worried b/c he is always home, found him in the yard nearly dead, died w/in moments of us finding him screaming in pain. Pretty positive it was poison, thinking most likely antifreeze.
What a pity. The vomiting is a tell tale of antifreeze poison. but it reacted fast on my dog anney. It hurts to see them go like that. My condolences to you.

Oh jiminy, Kass, I'm so sorry for your loss. The thought of you burying your baby with whipped cream brought tears to my eyes.

my understanding the symtoms of cocci are lethargy, wasting away- have you wormed them? i am guessing, coordination issues would be vitamin deficiencies- can't give vitamins while on corrid, so i'd stop that- and get them on nutridrench,
they have wasting away thing i think because their keel bone is sticking out and feels like there is no meat on it, she had seemed to be getting better that is why i think i was thiking maybe i poisoned her by giving her more meds.

i was wondering if anyone has ideas on what would cause dark blood clotting(in poo), lethargy and death? a facebook friend just lost a 9 week old chick, 24 hours after showing lack of energy, she did an autopsy and the heart had black spots and the lower intestine was twisted? i've been searching and can't pinpoint anything

What To Do If You See A Yellow Ribbon on a Dog's Leash

If you see a dog with a yellow ribbon tied to it's leash, that signifies a dog who needs space and you should not attempt to pet the dog or bring your own dog over

Coccidiosis (aka Cocci). It is a microorganism in the soil, it attacks the digestive system and causes bloody poo (not always but often). Followed by hunched, lethargic symptoms and then death. I have been told that once a bird has had cocci bad enough to exhibit symptoms it's intenstines are scarred for life and it will never reach it's full growth potential. 6-15 weeks is prime time to see symptoms. Treat with Corid or Sulmet. I have run into Corid-resistant cocci so I use Sulmet now.

Kass, so sorry for your loss. We love our cats, as well as dogs and chickens. Currently only one cat and one dog. Ours usually live long.

How are Rudy and Bella doing? A partridge chick hatched yesterday that may well be hers. She was the only partridge I had, but of course, partridge can come from a mixture of other genes and can show up occasionally without a partridge in the flock.
