***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Nov 1...6 weeks till the Shawnee Poultry Show Dec 13!
Is anyone entering birds for the show?

Hubby wants to... I'm undecided. We've never shown and I don't really have conditioning pens so I would have to take a good hard look at who is in good condition. Many of my hens are still molting or are feather worn from the rooster.

I'm enteriing at least two. Not certain yet, as we will be very busy, but will slow down some in time for the show. I plan to bring quite a few really nice, this year's birds.

Oh yes it is the silkie national this year, isn't it? We are hoping to pick up some nice birds to start a breeding flock! What are you planning to take for sale? I might reserve something!

It's official, beginning next week you can buy chicks from our farm at Lee's Feed in Tulsa! So exciting! They also do delivieries to Claremore if they have interest! We have big plans for next year!

This is the Orp boy I picked up from @Jeansrie the weekend of the last Coweta auction. Isnt he gorgeous? He's so sweet and gentle, friendly, and a talker. I added him into the Littles pen today, and he's ecstatic to be out of isolation. I'm thrilled to have him here.

Jean, my granddaughter renamed him... she thought he deserved the moniker Sunshine. ; D

Congrats!!! That's a great move for you. I'll have to find time to get out there again some day.

Rinda, I'm bringing several nice paints (cockerels and pullets), at least one nice splash cockerel, I think one nice blue cockerel, maybe a couple of nice black pullets, a couple of whites (cockerel and pullet) from my paint breeding--I also get nice blacks from them, but mostly paints. There will likely be several others, but pretty well in those color groups. I may also bring a couple of two-year-old blue cream hens (porcelain), and maybe a couple of other two-year-old hens. I also have several very nice showgirls; blues and blacks (both cockerels and pullets). I'm pretty picky about crests, beards and foot feathering, as well as overall typiness, eye color, etc. Also, of course, toes.

Ohhhh! Put me down for some porcelain if Rhinda isn't interested in those! I would absolutely love more porcelain!!!!

And @lonnyandrinda how cool is that! What a huge move for your farm!!!! Woot!

I may have to go check out the show too. My porcelain silkie I got from Betsy at poops has started a new love for silkies. I have since added 2 cuckoo silkies and hatched 3 silkie eggs. Since none are laying eggs and 3 are chicks I really don't have chickens yet according to chicken math right. Silkies are so awesome.
