***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Anyone near the south BA area crazy like me and still hatching chicks? I had a bad shipment of eggs and only one hatched, it is peeping constantly and needs a friend a week old or less!

I have a crazy chicken trying to hatch eggs now, but she is only about a week into the deal.

I'm in NE BA and will have some red sex links hatching in about 10 days. Do you want a little cockerel?

Thanks for the offer but I can't keep cockerels, I'll have more chicks in about 10 days as well but I just feel sorry for the little bugger. I tried to stick it under my sort-of broody hen but she was having none of it.

What roo are you using, assuming they're with one? What a bummer about not having a good ameraucana boy. Your girls are gorgeous!

Two (a Blue and Splash) are in with my Blue Copper Marans roo. He may be Splash...his coloring is very light. I'm hoping mixing the two breeds will result in some pretty Splash Olive Eggers.

Another Blue Ameraucana is in the silo coop with several roosters but is likely covered by a Blue Orpington. If I catch her laying I can collect her eggs, but they look identical to my EE's. They've all slowed down, but I'm still getting at least a few a week from each.

Well, hubby says he would rather stay a one dog family when Gracie passes.
The long hair in the house is pretty bad from an Aussie even when she is brushed and clipped.
The breed is wonderful with cattle, sheep, and poultry.

No prob. They do great with the goats... still working on poultry mainly the female. Merlin mostly ignores them. Harper ignores them as long as I'm in sight so she knows better. If I'm out of sight she will kill everything that moves. She pulls their tail feathers out it's a game with her. Not sure how to stop it because she behaves when I'm present!

I used a shock collar with a remote control set on a very mild level...kept myself out of sight and watched Gracie. If she chased or mis behaved, I gave her a short warning zap. If she persisted, then she got a two longer bursts and a command to sit. Only took a few times....of course when I got her she was already two years old.
Used the same system with Red...he came to us at three months of age. Gracie helped train him too.
The collars were very helpful in training the dogs to stay away from our busy highway out front.

Ohhhh I like the marans combo. Will you have any this weekend? I have 2 broody hens sitting on duds :( I could probably buy 8 or so because my girls are smallish.
