***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Good for you. We've had more than our share of coyotes this year. That's a great picture.
Sounds like Tucker is on the mend. Infections in the mouth are tricky: they move, sometimes into the bones. Do you have any raincoat pictures?

Grandkids make the world go 'round.
I'll get some Sunday when I get home, it was raining and I was working frantically to get them finished so I didn't take any pics yesterday.

My hatch due Nov 2 for the AM is already hatching. I have six bantam and large fowl out of 24 chicks already bounding around the hatcher with numerous others pipped and zipping. Guess I should have joined the Halloween hatch a long.

Lost my Mr T yesterday- he had been getting paler and paler, wormed, mited, was strugglig to breath but his lungs were clear- slow decline- RIP little man-

I have a hen with canker, when treating canker- can you put the fish-zole in the water? she my house hen sparkle, so not sure how she got it- that her with her diaper...LOL!

Robin, so sorry for your loss and illness. Your little girl has proven herself to be a survivor and a fighter, hopefully w/ your care she will beat this too.

terriinOK, not sure where Spencer is so don't think it is my area.

Tucker is on day 3 of the meds, I am really worried for him. The progress he made the first day has not continued and I think he has actually back slid a bit.

Sorry you lost Mr. T. His plumage was amazing, especially those tail feathers. Your hen has that look that says, "I'm not smiling. Stop making faces at me. I'm not smiling for you this time."
Hi! I just got chickens this spring and I live in Spencer. Would love to meet other chicken lovers in the area!
Welcome to BYC. We're always happy to have new chicken folks on the Okie thread. There are a lot of great chicken enthusiasts in the OKC area.

Here are some pics from today, taken over Tucker's very loud objections so taken in a hurry.

Coral here are the two Pen******* boys you gave me for company for this little NN Judas. I know both are boys but the one is trying to convince me he is a girl, he is so much smaller then his brother.

Here is one of the rain coats. It is made from mattress cover, still needs some tweeking. Phyllis got hers wet and half off, Rudy's is a shade to small.

Coral here are the remaining 2 cuckoo marans they are getting big.

Does anyone know the gender of the two marans???????

Great photos, Kass. Definitely both male Penedesencas. Both your cuckoo marans are boys too. I'd love to have one or both, if you're selling. I had a whole pen of boys that were eaten by a black snake, back when they were smaller than your Penedesenca boys are now. I sold some of the girls, but I kept six.

Your raincoat is truly inspired. I think you need to send your designs to London Fog.

((((( @Kassaundra ))))) Prayers for Tucker. Great work on the raincoats.

:welcome terriinOK. What kinds of chickens do you have?
There are several members in the Choctaw area. And in the south OKC area too. Michael D has a booth at Mary's Swap Meet. He has a red trailer on the north end of the poultry area.

So far there is only one chick that has an internal pip left to hatch...six were quitters out of the 24 in the hatcher, but already have 15 moved to the brooder.
We lost six of the 6 week old juveniles in the brooder room in the barn yesterday. One looked slimed...like a snake attack. The other five had no signs, but may have been squeezed. There are two brooder hens in with them and 25 chicks ranging from 4 weeks to 12 weeks. Finally figured out how the snake got in and have solved that problem.
Yesterday we spotted two Redtail Hawks circling the free ranging birds and gave warning whistles and clapped hands. The juveniles ducked for cover and the hawks flew off...for now! Then last night as I was locking up coops and pens a Great Horned owl landed on one of the Martin house poles to survey the scene...sure hope he was looking for voles or the Cottontail rabbit invading my garden.
We had our first turnip greens from the garden with lunch yesterday. Still getting tomatoes, but the okra is done. Will clean that bed and plant more green cover crops.
