***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day!! Sorry its been so long since I havevn'tbeen on here. Thanks Nana for asking about me! Sounds like you have been busy cooking.I am down. To just raising my Roller pigeons and guinea pigs. Got rid of the bantam an ducks a couple months ago. The bird flu has really shut down the backyard bird fun here in. Tn,and KY. All tho Tn didn't put a ban. On any poultry movement,Ky did. And since I'm so close to the KY border it has hampered us.The Mennonite people who put on most of the poultry auctions in the area are hit the worse. They made a huge income from poultry fans. e are all hoping the new KY governor will lift the ban next year since there were only two cases reported.
Nana I spent a lot of time in the gardens this year and really enjoyed all the goodies you sent. But my favorite of all was the old fashion petunias! They were fantastic! I saved a lot of seed but also expect a lot of self seeding. Some are still green even after a week of twenty degree nites. Thank you so much. Sounds like its about to get nasty out your way. Be careful. Hello Kass, hope your doing good.

Mass I vote for the too with the most white! He is gorgeous!

Wayne, so good to see you posting! Sure hope the family is okay. Yes those petunias will self sow and I'm glad you are enjoying them. Sure hope the ban gets lifted ...I really enjoy your reports on the auctions.

Robin it dfoes seem strange that certain bird venues remain open but others close. I was lucky enough to go to the National Young Bird show in Louisville . s a pigeon show. Apparently pigeons arena t classified as poultry so their events were not closed. ot bro pick up some nice new rollers to add to my flock. But the show was shadowed by the death of one of the showers. My wife and I were walking thru looking at all the breeds when a lady screamed very close by. We ran over there and a man had hemorriged in the head and was bleeding out. My wife was the first of five nurses to be there but there was nothing they could do but hold the man and watch him die. There was no ambulance or emit,s on site. A huge. mistake considering the average age of the crowd of at least a thousand was around 65-75! If. They had been there it might have saved the mans life. *** it was the nurses had note equipment at ball to be able to do anything. It was a very traumatic thing to have to watch a man literally bleed to death in front t of your eyes. We left shortly thereafter, were just not in the mood to see anymore. It was a very somber drive home and both of us were bothered by it for days.hope the organizers take note and have emergency people on standby from now on.

Say what ya want bout spoilt chickens but after spending a little time outside this morning I tore up some bread n threw it in the microwave for 10 seconds and tossed it to them after busting the ice loose from the gate lock!!
Round 2 is coming in. I hope everyone stays safe and keeps power.

Hello!
Good to hear from you. We are a quiet thread now but true chicken lovers. I have had birds 8 years now .My husband bought dogs pens for my flock saying he could resell them when I grew bored of birds but I love them more than ever. I have only 5 breeding pens now instead of 8 but hatched and sold more than 300 chicks last year. I still have one of my original birds, a sweet bantam Partridge Cochin roo that still benevolently rules the grow out pen.
