***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Laid back in the recliner with a heating pad nursing my aches and pains. An 1100 pound cow looks a whole lot bigger when she is running over the top of you! We had taken the trailer to pick up a cow with a swollen back leg. Using cubes to coax her from the back of the herd into a temporary pen so we could load her, a few of the other cows got spooked and turned to run. One knocked me off balance and stepped on my foot pulling my muck boot off. I landed on my right knee and right shoulder as I fell. Another cow grazed my left calf and another missed my head by inches. Feeling pretty luck to only have some scrapes and bruises!
Needless to say, we will try to get the cow tomorrow.

We got a nice rain this afternoon and already have moved 15 newly hatched chicks to the brooder.

Time to start thinking of collecting the new crop of morels that will be popping up soon.
I used to have a Marine Master Gunnery Sergeant (who was very short) tell the troops "I'd look a lot taller if I was standing in the middle of your chest". Sounds kinda like the same situation. Get well soon!

Still a little sore this morning, but we were able to work in the garden yesterday and finally got our potatoes planted.

I am going to have three nice barred Wyandotte roos available if anyone needs a nice rooster for their flocks. These guys have been running with the free ranging layer flock and know how to treat the ladies and give alarm calls. They are a cross between the White Wyandotte rooster and the Columbian Wyandotte hens. One has a more knobby comb than the other two. but they are about 10 - 11 months of age.

Their two sisters have decided it is time to go broody. Here is one of them plastered to her eggs. And Mandy and Molly with their chicks out free ranging.

Nana, surely hoping you're OK. You are an amazing woman with an amazing husband as well!

Oooh those are some beautiful roosters!! I love their fluffiness and colors!
Go broody mamas, go! :D

Good luck with them taters! I hope you start feeling less sore, soon.

We've been without an Internet connection for a couple of days. I turned off wifi on my phone to connect using our media plan. It's agonizing to navigate using a phone.

Dan- the eggs you gave me went into lockdown today. I took out two smelly eggs today, and there were three or four clears removed last week. The rest look really good.

New Okie chicken mom here. Have 6 BO and 4 SLW chicks, all cute as a button. They seem healthy and happy, coming up on 2 weeks old. Proud! They're all supposed to be female, but we'll see... And well wishes to NanaKat. Hope you feel better soon!
