***OKIES in the BYC III ***

[Poco Pollo]

Three Easter Eggers hatched and are nearly dry. Several eggs have pips and quite a few rock when you shine the light on them. I couldn't get a photo through the incubator window: flash washes everything out. Maybe I'll have enough dry chicks by tomorrow to warrant taking out the dry chicks and putting in another sponge for humidity.

We have 160 acres north of Prague on Deer Creek...no house...we use as pasture for part of our cattle. We have some really nice neighbor's on the road. The community is friendly. When we bought it, we had to replace all the fences.

I have 7.5 Acres East of Prague, almost on the county line between Paden and Prague. Currently living there, but will be moving soon to a place with in 45 minutes of Bartlesville so I no longer have a 2 hour one way trip to work.

Nanakat- I believe they did. Although I am positive they loved playing in the dirt more than anything else. I cannot wait to move them out to their permanent home so they can have that much fun all the time.

Nice to be able to turn off the heat lamps today. My chickies were getting downright hot in their brooder, loafing around with their wings held out from their lil bodies. I hope they'll be well taken care of while I'm at the hospital having my new baby girl later this week. Lots of new beginnings this month. It's exciting!

uh oh and awwww! Cats are extreme.

Sure enjoyed the visit today with Rebecca, Mary Jo and Joe. Getting together to visit about chickens is always a fun time. Rebecca looked so good after her surgery. Roger really liked visiting with Joe too. Larry was really impressed with Joe's big truck.

After you left, I transplanted my verbena and snapdragons into 4 inch pots. Then we checked the cows in Prague and worked in the garden planting lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and collards. Next I fed and watered the chickens and gathered the rest of the eggs and moved that white Wyandotte hen to a brood box...she settled down to business just like a duck to water. The eggs are still pipping in the incubator so I quickly moved the fluffed chicks to the brooder. Maybe this will be a better hatch.

Roger has the first of two days of stress tests at the heart hospital tomorrow. It begins at 11 am with fasting after midnight....he doesn't function well without his morning coffee...might be a rough morning.. :/

Lovely girls. Does Cushing have a limit on the number of hens you can have in town?

We are actually outside of town. ;-) I have seen some people in town with chickens though and am not sure how they get away with it. LOL

We put our chicks in the chicken tractor over the weekend to get them onto grass and bugs. It is so windy here today that I'm thankful the tractor is enclosed for fear their little bodies would blow away! Sheesh! I'm still new to OK and I'm going to have a serious talk with my neighbors who told me that the worst of the wind is over in march! Lol!

Don't worry. I was induced early with my first due to pregnancy induced hypertension and my wonderful bundle of joy is now fou and perfect! You both will do fine.
