***OKIES in the BYC III ***

@CLSranch
 how much cheaper is Orschelyns then nutrena?

I'm not sure what brands are there, but Ron's Discount Lumber going into Howe has a 50lb bag of chicken feed for 10 bucks the last time I went, but they may or may not have upped the price since. I remember seeing scratch, chick feed and layer pellets for around that much, but I don't know what they have now.

Anyone near Hindsville Ark? A member on the Facebook page for Columbian Wyandotte is downsizing her flock. She has six hens and a rooster for $200 or best offer. A couple of her birds are from my bloodline and she has a few hatchery birds that meet the Standard. She has been a good shepherd of the bloodline.
I'm tempted, but have 50 CW right now and don't have room in my breed pen for more.

Snow total was 3 inches here.

Well mine are doing much better despite the cold. Changing their food from layer to regular helped during this late molt and the extras suggestions worked like a charm. Some things like oranges they wouldn't touch but they are very healthy in comparison to 3 weeks ago.
Thanks for the input.

Glad you are seeing improvement. It took a while for a few of my older birds to peck the oranges.

I give pieces to chicks in the brooder when just a few days old when they will explore more variety. They get hooked really quick...things like chopped cucumber, cantaloupe, green pea hulls, cabbage, carrot, tomato, etc. Then the older birds see the juveniles gobbling up those goodies and rush in to try them.

Mine are crazy. They won't eat carrots. They will pick around and leave them no matter what. Lol
I made some protein pancakes for me n the wife this snowy morning
400

I was wondering if the girls could benefit from a protein boost. It's whey protein. Think it would hurt them?
