***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Sorry about the calf NaNa. If you couldn 't pull it thru no one could. Glad the cow is okay. Hope the winter has been good to you and yours so far. Are you ready for the spring hatching season!

Thanks Wayne.
How are your birds and critters this year?
I'm going to be ready. After this last freeze, I'll start pulling the breeders to go in the pens. I can begin collecting eggs for hatching the third week in February....as long as the temps stay above freezing.
Had an owl take a pullet last night. She was outside the coop in that pen for some reason.

I just bought theses bantams , and after I got them home I looked in my chicken catalog and thought they were bb red old English game bantams.
I was looking on line and out they were not bb reds but weatens except, they both have blue legs. can anyone give me some advice?

Hi Everyone!!
I'm new to the site AND new to chickens (for the most part). I'll be getting a few birds in early spring and am now working on what kind of coop to build or buy. Though I originally started planning to build one, I'd like to know what you all think about buying. Most of the ones I've seen online I'm afraid will be made too cheaply. And the ones at Atwoods I'm still not sure about. Any suggestions on that would be much appreciated!!!
I plan on having 3 hens(mixed breeds) and later getting a rooster if I can find the breed I want. If anyone knows where I can get a Houdan rooster I'd love to know.
Anyways, I'm so excited about this site. So much information!!

@NargleAssassin Welcome! I'm sure you will be happy with your decision to get a few chickens this spring. I don't know where you live, but my hubby can build you a sturdy coop if you're interested. He will build them to order and will come out and install if you prefer. Feel free to look him up on Facebook under Billy's Creations. You can also text him at (970) 946-8868. Best of luck on your chicken adventures!

Welcome and if close I'd go with dunnmom's coop. Also look around at prices. I find Orschelyn's in my area to be the cheapest feed. But they have a coop for $480 while TSC has the same size for $199 and the same structural integrity. I built mine out of wood from I got off a job that saved money.

It looks like eFowl and Cackle Hatchery have Houdan (if you don't mind chicks) but they're the mottled variety! I'd bet someone on this site in the sell/buy section has some Houdans they can part ways with. :)

Im in Blanchard, Ok. Just me, my grandchildren and a few chickens and Roo. I had them for going on 10 years. We enjoy the chickens as sorta pets and my GB love checking for eggs. Strictly a hobby!
