A big :welcome to
NargleAssassin and conada!
Always happy to see new folks joining our group.
There are lots of coops in the information section that are easy to build.
The main issue is making sure the coop and attached run are predator proof.

@NargleAssassin Were I to be just starting out, I would make a few improvements:
Using 1/2 inch X 1 inch hardware fencing instead of chicken wire or even 2 X 4 fencing to keep wild birds out of the pens and feeders
Allowing more floor space in the coops since our cold weather means birds choose to be inside
Put wheels on my portable tractors.
Build a well supplied First aid kit before an emergency strikes...because it will happen.

Grand babes are great help with our chickens too! @conada

With spring coming, we all need to be on guard even more over our flocks, yesterday when we got home this was the image we found

:( the wolf of the sky (chicken hawk) got one of my best Japanese hens:"( very heart broken over this for they are my favorite I'm just glad we got a few of her eggs for the incubator b4 she was killed.

I'm missing a couple of hens the last month or 2 from the same cause. I've seen them roost within range with me next to the house. Step around the corner grab the rifle and no sign of them when I come back around the corner.
