My girls have all been off-lay for a couple of months due to the seasonal changes and molting. For almost a week, they'd been singing fake egg songs. One of my girls finally decided to bless us with a pretty big and perfectly formed egg yesterday, so I'm hoping their winter laying strike will be over soon. I don't have any big plans for them over this next laying season unless someone goes broody. Even then, there's so much to consider when mulling the prospect of allowing a hatch to happen. Not sure we'll be ready to commit this year. I'm getting excited that spring is coming and can't wait to see what happens with all of this group's hatches this year.

I've been using this nice weather to prune the fruit trees, clean up more in the garden AND set up the breeder pens.
There will be three pens of Columbian Wyandotte, one pen of Buckeye, one pen of Cochin, two pens with Delaware Bantam, a pen for Sebright (Ansel and two of his daughters), one pen of Serama, one OEGB pen and two Rosecomb pens....12 pens.
Guess I'm going to spend a few days getting the incubators sterilized, calibrated and equipment ready for brooding.
Also have the seed orders coming, seed flats ready and and compost spread on the garden beds.
All that and need to finish the taxes.

This little girl decided to go broody on one egg, I had another egg and set in front of her and she gladly took it....I`m so glad I made her a nice nest box so she could roll the eggs out and sit in front of it.

I have a question. I have bee's in a tree in my back yard which I love. They are also right next my garden. I always have worms in my corn before it's time to pick them. What and besides sooner than the last few years when can I put on them and not hurt the bee's?
