***OKIES in the BYC III ***

The girls are happy. I've been flipping logs n stuff finding Beatles n Rollie Pollies. They busted out some nice eggs

the girls are loving this weather and egg production is up I am getting more egg than I have room in my incubators to set.

if anyone has incubator room and is interested in setting some eggs shoot me a PM

I've started the incubators and have six hens brooding eggs.
Also have a hen with three tiny Serama chicks.
Need to finish the duck house today. They should be laying soon and need to be outside all the time instead of going back to their indoor brood pen.

The garden is progressing...the English peas, lettuce are up. Onions, potatoes, beets, turnips, carrots, spinach, radish are planted. The cabbage and Romaine plants are ready to put out. Transplanting tomato and pepper plants into 4" pots today and dormant spraying the buds on the fruit trees.

TAXES are done and in the hands of the accountant. :weee

LIFE is good! :celebrate

Hi everyone! Where can I go here in okla to help me with bumblefoot? Ive been to an aviary vet in okc, but he only wants to keep her on antibiotics! I tried to remove it myself, but I just dont have the confidence.

It has been quite a while since I have had to bother w/ bumble foot, but as I remember it is a lengthy heal / treat time either way if you go the antibiotic route or the cut it out route. How long was he (the vet) saying your chicken needed to be on antibiotics?

If the bumble foot is new, you can soak her feet in Epsom salt water to soften the callus. This allows the callus to loosen too.

If you do the surgery, plan on wrapping the foot and changing dressings frequently.
You can type bumble foot in the "search" feature at the top of the page to get what resources are here on BYC.
