***OKIES in the BYC III ***

So if an egg is submerged in water for approximately 24 hr. Would it still be viable to try and hatch out?
Yes...the water won't hurt the eggs.

I have soaked dozens of eggs at a time in antibiotics solutions over night to prevent vertical transmition of mycoplasma. The eggs are just fine when submerged. It is a practices that some people use all the time.

Ok, The reason I asked was because my duck laid her egg in her pond, she has been laying evey other day and I didn't find one yesterday and I figured there should have been one when I drained the pool today there was an egg at the bottom was hoping to put a few under a broody hen so I wasn't sure if I could use this one or not.

We got a full 2 inches of rain last night! Roger is checking the ponds to see if we got any runoff in the low ponds.

Hatching is in full swing...25 Columbian Wyandotte and 8 Cochin as well as a few Bantam chicks.
The two ducklings are now separate from the chicks in their own brooder. Had moved 20 week old chicks to the brooder in the barn and didn't want to put the newest hatch in with the two ducklings...those two are growing soooo fast!
I have 4 more hatches before my trip to Santa Fe May 9. It's a 5 day trip, so Roger will be tending all my babies.

I'm getting a shipment of Call duck eggs and an assortment of other duck eggs from Tennessee. Don't know how many she is sending. They will be set to incubate while I'm gone and go in lockdown after I get back. Roger knows how to keep the water bucket full for the cabinet incubator.

That's pretty far to drive for chicks, but let me know if you want some. It will take a few days to save up eggs and 3 weeks to hatch them.

I really appreciate it but yeah there and back would b an all day trip and with a 3 year old son I don't want to b making that trip! Talk about a long ride!! Lol
