Hi Kevin - I didn't even think about tomorrow being Friday the 13th - it must be a lucky day if you were born on one. I do hope that you can come for a visit during POOPS some day - I'm sure there will be lots of reports on the board about everything next week. Thanks so much for the good wishes - you have a great day over there in Nevada!

jcat - I'll change your location on the Okie Roll Call & Okie Locations to Cement - good luck with the move - POOPS will be a great break for you this weekend!

old*cowboy :

Is directions to the fair grounds posted on here, if not how do I get there.

The Fletcher fairgrounds are located just outside the main part of Fletcher, on the North side.

From I-44 go 5 mi. north on Hwy 277 from Exit #53, and turn east on North Drive.

From 277 just follow 277 S until the "WildCat Express" Drive thru and turn east on North Drive.

The fairgrounds are on the East side of Hwy 277, just north of the railroad track.

I've gotten a little lazy on trying to read all you guys' post so I search for my user name and see if anyone asked me a question or posted a comment that I missed and voila...look what I found. Shows you that I'm not on much.

Hi how's your bird's doing ....Hope it's not as hot out your way as it is hear...

The birds are great, I even have a 4 hole incubator going (broodies) so the population will be up in a few weeks. Hope to hatch out BCM's, olive egger (F1, 2, and 3), blue/blue wheaten ameraucanas, EE's, and BLRW. Last week in the 100's, this week so far 68-88 for highs. Even a little sky crying on Monday-Tuesday.

Today through the weekend is supposed to be in the 90's. I could get used to this but it won't last.

thank you for explaining what a "4 hole incubator" was. I saw that and thought ?????
I too, have several broody hens acting as incubators for me right now. They are definately the best way to hatch.

Anybody going to POOPS that might have an old APA standard book for sale. I would be interested in one.

Did they ever get the new and improved standard published? I heard in 2010 that it was due out, but since it isn't something I use except for identification, I didn't pay much attention to whether it was published as anticipated.

This is my first time trying broodies in years. We had 2 last year that I broke down and gave pheasant eggs to but I wasn't around for hatch date and my boy wasn't paying attention so it was a disaster. A couple of these had been sitting on golf balls, the day's crop, or air for a while so I gave in and they are doing great so far.

They are an EE, OEGB, white Marans, and a cuckoo Marans.

The runner duck started earlier and I gave her 3 BCM eggs, 2 disappeared over last weekend and the last must have hatched while I was at work yesterday. I don't think that it was to her liking, ugly duckling?
