***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Morning Friends,

Gotta get moving, still no luck in finding our Tom... Jason thinks he might have got fed up with Roseanne being on the nest and tending to her babies and left her for the hussy that showed up in our pasture a few weeks ago(wild turkey hen)... If we dont find him soon Jason and I will be on the look out for a Naragensett TOM.... and maybe a 2 more Naragensett Hens since we only have one that is adult.

Also on the hunt for guineas so if anyone will be bringing them to the Fletcher Auction this saturday

Well shucks - I'm in the right area but I have no incubator. Buckeyes are cool, and it's a nice thing you're offering to do JimsFarmStand. I wish I could help.

We have three horses and a mule. We have a warmblood that is a Quarterhorse/ Belgian cross. She is awesome. She is huge, 17hands.
We have her sister that is the mule. Same mother, different daddy and she is 17.2 hands. And their Mother who is purebred Belgian. And I traded my palomino mare today for a gray quarter horse mare. Well we are test driving her for a week. LOL I used to barrel race but now we just do trail riding. Im getting interested in some competitive trail riding its catching on around here. Team roping is SUPER popular around here. Do you ride?

Yes I ride & wanted to team rope but with three kids I never had time to get serious. I don't get much of a chance to ride either but soon enough I will have nothing but time. You have some really big horses/mules. I don't have time for another hobby or I would check into competitive trail riding!!

I like the competitive trail riding too - I sold my horses when I moved to the city but I kept my tack...just in case!

If that is the purpose I would suggest you get the APA ABA youth program director on board with the program.. identify if possible what the local 4H and FFA teams have an interest in, set up displays for bathing, cleaning, and preping birds for show. You may also want a display or two devoted to conditioning of birds for show. A good slide show for proper breed identification and background.
You will want to focus heavily on getting all the FFA program directors involved as Poultry has the potential to increase youth participation in thier programs.
Conditioning and cleaning is a typical short coming with youth poultry shows, additionally good stock should be made available to the youth at a more than fair price if they are sold at all.

I wish all the luck with your efforts.

Monty! Thank you for the "wine glasses"! They were invaluable on the trip home to give water to the peeps. I just poured a little water in them so the chickens could get a drink and they don't tip over because they're so heavy - they were perfect. Thank you!
