***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Evening everyone

A few of our newbies had some feather lice so we decided to spray each and everyone in the flock and added DE to the Coops and cages where all the birds are housed...

and while we were at it... I gave treated their water to the "gatoraid" for chickens stuff to help keep them hydrated during these hot weather days... ALL the BIRDS are HAPPY

which make me

These things are practically microscopic. I have good near sight vision, my hubby does not. He can't even see them. I could really see them on the barn post because it is practically black and they looked yellow on that. When I find them on my hands they are black or yellow/clear. Small round body and maybe 4 legs??? Kind of like a mini mini spider. Rub over them and they die unlike fleas. Definately not lice, been a long time since I saw those but pretty sure they aren't lice. Maybe the northern fowl mites though and that would be why I get the darker ones on my hands from the nesting areas??? .............Off to googleland to see if I can find pics of northern fowl mites and feather mites, lovely.............

Cayuse!!! I need to get my B--t around and make some more, two of my sisters are screaming at me to make more Jalapeno Jelly for them too, need to get started on more for next year and for Christmas gifts. I need to make some pickles and relish too. I picked up two pressure cookers the other day and am anxious to try them out!!! I love to cook and can, but finding time is something else. Always something going on around here!!! I will post it here when I get some made!!! Is there any other special request for flavors of Jelly that anyone else wants??? I know Teach wants more Morning Dew Jelly so better make more of that!!! May try some Dr.Pepper Jelly too!!!! Have an Onion relish I want to try also! Lynn

What is the Gatoraid for chickens? Is that like the vitamin yellow powder? Cant remember name of it.

This is probablly a dumb question but what does DE stand for? See it all the time.

Im going to rule out the feather mites because based on those pics and others they are more beatle shaped. What I see is more spider like but teensy tiny. Not ruling out the Northern Fowl mites though. They look pretty similar. And maybe the darker ones have fed
