Poco - I've seen that expression on my terrier Titus when he is focusing all his energy and senses on one thing - usually something he's not certain what to do about. The first time I saw that look on Titus he was just a small puppy only a few months old. I found him immobile in a corner of the yard looking with burning gaze at something on the ground right in front of him. I couldn't see what it was from across the yard, but when I got to him I saw he had been turned to flame-eyed stone by a baby tortoise. I've seen photos of adorable Vesta, and I am so glad you posted a couple of Connor - he is amazing!

I'm going to be in and out working in short bursts in the garden, still trying to keep things alive until the weather breaks, hoping for a fall harvest since nothing much is happening right now in the garden. I am getting a few squash and cukes every day.

I've lost two of my squash plants to bugs. I guess I'll plant some more. Our corn should be ready by the weekend. We just bought one of those food baggers that sucks all the air out and seals shut. Worked really well on the six cockerels we put up on Monday. I'll be using it on extra peppers, corn, and okra. BTW, we just discovered grilled okra. Take your whole pods, lightly coat with oil, butter or spray, salt and season, and lay on the grill. Grill as you would other veggies. Ummm mmmm. I like it better than fried okra.

Hiya Gary. How is the world treating you?

No complaints Keith.
It's hot here but it's hot all over so I am no worse off than all of my Okie friends.
It is a lot easier to tend the flock since we got rid of all of Grace's show birds. I only have 14 layers left (oops...forgot about 5 BL chicks that hatched out last month) so we have gone from around two hours to feed and water down to about 15 minutes.
Now if I could just get rid of all the extra pens I could clean the chicken yard up and the girls could really enjoy the space.
