***OKIES in the BYC III ***

We got 4/10 of an inch of rain!

Not enough to close the cracks in the yard, but enough to drop the temperature into the low 80s, which at this point is almost as appreciated as the moisture.

Rains to the east, west, south and north of us and we got a 3 " sprinkle so far. We can see the storms moving around us and keep praying it will dump on us. Shawnee to the south got 2.3 inches. The town of Meeker apparently got some rain too. We are 2.8 miles east of town. Hopefully we will get more this evening if the storms continue to generate.

Benefit is the temperature dropped to 84 and the sprinkles settled the dust on the ground and the bermuda is straining to reach each little drop.

Someone is moving horses into the old Meeker sale barn....last count about 40 head. Wonder what they are going to do with that many horses.

No rain here, I've heard yhunder for the last 2 hours. Dibble to the southeast,Amber to the west, Bridgecreek, Tuttle and Newcastle all got rain, One storm headed this way and just southwest of me it turned east. Watching it rain between here and Norman now. This just isn't right.

Not yet.... barely wet the ground did cool off a bit that's a blessing. Still a chance something good could happen like fill my rain barrels. This little ghost town I live in has been having water problems for going on two weeks the water district has let them down. FEMA is giving out bottled water. I guess I need to give some classes on how to get by without turning on a faucett.

Years past Meeker was the horse sale to attend but I would bet those are headed to Mountain View and then off to Mexico. There isn't a real horse market anymore with the economy and the drought. Horses have gone as low as $25 at Jones and we are seeing more and more free horses on Craig's List and most at auction are thin.

We have been feeding a lot of grain and hay ourselves and I am getting a truck ready to go to Ks. after hay if need be. Hopefully our hay guy will get another cutting this year and we can squeak by. His fields are way east of Guthrie so they have had good rains this year. Last year they had a bearing go out on a baler and the field went whoosh!! Didn't even get one bale out of the chamber.

Do you have any good plans for rain barrels that you would like to share? CityClucks shared some plans last year, but I didn't save them anywhere I could easily reference them. Yes, some classes on how to get by without turning on a faucet may be very timely. I recall when we used our dish water to water the flower beds.
