***OKIES in the BYC III ***

My scovies eat what the chickens eat. They eat what the Turkeys eat. They eat what the dog eats. They also eat what the cats eat.

So, any spilled feed, grass, insects (they love hanging out under the yard light at night), and whatever gets tossed out for the free rangers.

I don't like keeping them completely fed because they seem to not clean up the flies.

I was like a little kid on the 4th of July at the fireworks display. As I would scroll down I would say ohh, then ahh. Awesome site, thanks for sharing. Guy

Mine only stomp their feet & squeek at me when I mess with the babies. They've never attacked. Probably because we raised them from practically day olds.

I am not sure which is a meaner nest sitter - a turkey hen or a guinea hen
wink.png

We have a turkey and guinea on two nests of turkey, peacock and guinea eggs, that are side by side. There are guinea keets hatching and I managed to snag 5 of the keets yesterday with only a few nips to my arm, from beneath the turkey hen. I tried to snatch some more keets this evening and decided to leave them with the two moms, after the guinea acted like she would attack my face if I got too close.

I agree - guineas are mean mommas!
