***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I have had double/triple ducks, turkeys, guineas, and chickens on one nest. Eventually, when the eggs start hatching, one will go off with the ducklings, keets, or chicks and the other will remain with the unhatched eggs in the nest. The turkey hens are the only ones that don't seem to follow the newly hatched poults off the nest once they start hatching.

That is adorable.

Hello everyone...
loses here as well due to heat and coon that will not be caught.
Annabell lost both fluffy butt and spike.... Our 4-H group all cried with
her which was touching... She wont go into the coop and has been making
scarfs with yarn in replacement...

well, from what i've read its probably fowl pox, am putting betadine on it, its not supposed to be life threatening but heals up- i noticed it on some of the hens, so i guess i am dabbing everybody.... and he has major bumble issue, poor guy- but he is so relaxed, kind of 'oh, you need to mess with my foot again????'

haven't lost any, but am sure tired from hauling ice....

Eveening folks, hope its cooling down for ya. Talked to my daughter in Delware Co. this morning, they were supposed to be 115 today. I don't think I ever remember it being that hot back there. I suppose it could have over the 50 odd years I was there but sure don't remember it.

NaNa that was some smart thinking on insureing the hay! With it so dry a fire could spread fast and furious and wipe you out.AS much as you all would feed that could be a lot.

I need to separate some young birds but don't really hav ethe pens for it yet. I could but don't want them crowed up in this heat.Sounds like just about everyone is losing at least a few birds. I don't even want to think about the larger farm animals people are loosing.

Our school sent two ball players to the hospital from heat today.I just don't think a ball game is worth risking akids life for. I would have a hard time letting one of mine play in this weather. Some schools and coaches just don't seem to worry or care.
