***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Mowing and working in the garden today, but probably mostly mowing. Taking lot's of 15 min breaks as I push mow (hate riding mowing) Did make a conscession to push mowing this year and got a self propelled push mower and man was that one of the best ever descisions!!!!! I kept going back and forth about self prop, vs cordless electric (they do have cordless self prop but the consumer report for the $400 range one was bad and the cheapest w/ a good rating was $800 range, just a little over budget!!) I am actually just happy we have green grass to mow.

Several of the bushes, vines, and trees that had got brown and crunchy during the past 2 months of H**l are budding out green!!! Woo Hooo.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Sooner my son-inlaw has used Stark Brothers for ordering trees over the years. And you can really tell the difference from them and those you get at Lowes or some of the nurserys. They start off better and just do a whole mor growing quickly. I would for sure use them. They usually have bargain sales going on to. You can find them on the net.

I have had a lot of success w/ them also. When I order trees through the mail I always order from them. Reasonable prices (not the highest or lowest) but always good plants.

Can I put my babies outside yet? They will be 4 weeks old on Thursday - mostly feathered but still missing some. They have been inside the house, but we are getting tired of their chirping and they want more room:) I was worried with it being so hot... It is suppose to be 100 a couple of days this week... Is that too hot for them - especially since they have been inside all this time. We have a small coop waiting for them outside - just waiting for the right time.

Thanks.

This is my first year raising asils from hatch. I bought a pair from a friend and had them shipped to me around Christmas of last year. The pullet brooded a clutch of young ones, 4 of them survived (I had issues with cats & snakes

). I ended up with two pullets and two stags. I figured the day would come that I'd need to separate the boys of the group. Never did I think the pullets would game up before the stags did. This morning I discover two stags with busted up faces and one pullet with a head so swollen she can't see. The other pullet doesn't have a scratch on her.

Reckon the dominate pullet is a definite keeper.

I vote put them outside. I give my birds frozen 2 liters during the day. They perch on them if they are hot. Think most of mine were outside about 3-4 wks of age this summer.

Think I might loose another welsummer today! About 11 I had one laying kinda funny. Nudged her she jumped up & moved away. Went down to make some mud puddles for the birds. I am spraying the birds always run away until the hose stops. The welsummer was laying there. Never moved. Picked her up. Washed her off, and she didn't care about the water. Never even flapped her wings. So brought her up to the house. First I put her in a box, but couldn't see her well. Moved her to the kids tub gave her a bowl of water & one w electrolites some melon & feed. She is pecking the feed but not really the melon or water. Will see how she does. Figure when kids get home they might want their bathroom back.

Do you get them anywhere local? Just a thought.
