Stephanie doesn't let me leave the house but once a week... So tuesday is still fine with me..
Great, Gary said it will be mid afternoon if all goes right (he finds all the houses some people's driving instructions are quite unbelievable) Anyway he said he would call when he leaves his last house, which will be the Stillwater area. How many chickens? I couldn't tell from the previous posts if it was one or more.
1 but she is not small...
Oh, and sooner she started laying again yesterday... She is in with my Blue Rooster so when you get you can very likely hatch those eggs...

Looks like a good show. I love county fair shows. They are laid back and get to see lots of neat stuff.
We just got home & unloaded the birds. Kids one 6 blue ribbons & $30 they are happy! My sisters kids both picked their favorite birds from our barn to take Nephew age 5 was so excited to get the blue ribbons He sqid sure glad i didnt get red because that means you didnt do very good Was surprised he knew red was second place Thought about it & red is the color he gets @ school for being in trouble! No other school kids were competing only homeschooled kids. My daughter said she would have take. More birds if she knew she'd get $$! However it was pure torture getting her to wait around & put her birds on the table. Maybe next yr she might want to show more, not sure.

there are junior shows all around you, this is just the start.. You should try newcastle, and the South central Club Show I believe will be anadarko, there are several more. I am sure somebody will help you out some birds to show off for them to help point a kid in a direction..

If my younger DD deciedes she wants to show more birds she will need to pick a bred or 2. (she is a tad scatter brain & will try to have 1 of everything) I will give her time to see if she wants to show more & then encourage her to pick out a what she would like to focus on. All her favorites appear to be barnyard mix. I am sure in time she can pick something show worthy! Maybe she will want to join 4h, I am sure she would learn alot there. Her qualifications for a bird is it must be pretty & like to be petted. If it doesn't want to be held, eat from your hand & sit on your shoulder then the bird is not a good bird.
Figure this was a good experience. If she wants to continue we have from now until spring to collect birds & hatching eggs! show birds don't count towards your chickens right?
No, I don't think showbirds count in chicken math. Between bators, hatchers, brooders, growout pens, conditioning pens, training cages, showboxes, show cages and breeding pens, well they don't really stay in one place long enough to have to count them.
Try Booted Bantams. I'd love a few more. They're the sweetest little things. My youngest walks around with one on her shoulder quite a bit. I've only ever seen them IRL when we got ours from MichaelD though.
Sorry to hear about the pup. Hope she's better soon. Have to find out what variety of the bantam Cornish she wants. I didn't even think to ask.

I smoked for 36 yrs and quit 3 yrs ago with Chantix. You can get it online tons cheaper now and the stuff works! My husband & brother smoked 28 yrs and quit the same time with Chantix, all 3 of us. I really just don't even think of it now. We'll be there Friday at 6 then.

Haha! they're addicting. I do like the standards over the bantams. The little red bantam Cochin I got from you is doing just fine but she's pretty ornery with other chickens so I decided to stick with standard size. Inmy limited experience the bantams always seem to have an attitude.
Mine gets to go in with my sacred Cochin younguns after quarrantine, so she'll automatically be Head Hen
I get a kick out of my Silkies and care very much about them, but I'm just in awe of my Cochins. They're just such gentle natured birds.
I adore all 7 of mine. The little roos are so sweet and the babies are the fuzziest. I'm starting to appreciate FL Cochins ( I have 3 now)more and more, they are so beautiful.
I don't want fiesty birds, got enough excitement and drama teaching Middle School.
There is so much variety in poultry, a bird for everyone.
MJ I edited the number for you, I think that is right now... How many eggs did you get today? thats how many chickens you have..
7 eggs! you are exactly right! - ahh chicken math. My girls are averaging 5 to 8 a day. I give away alot of eggs and when people see how small they are they ask, "Can we eat these?"
