She is such a free spirit I have decided to protect her as much as possible and honor her spirit, if she passes to early I will mourn her loss and rejoice in her spirit. I really love the spirit of this bird.

Evening all, just thought I'd give you a report on the City-forced distribution of our small flock.

Ksane (Mitzi), thank you for caring for the two little bantam cochins Queenie and Bash. They will be a nice addition to your flock.

Firefly89 (J), You really are a jewel! It was so nice to see you again tonight. Thank you for caring for Flit, Boston Blackie, Big Red, Puff and Gracie. Their eggs are small but so cute! I'm sure the girls will entertain you for hours.

Jarvis (Carl), if you will PM me and let me know how to get some laying hens to you for your friend, I'll be happy for her to have them. OH, and if you are really going to teach a class, please include me (us). I'd love to know more about showing birds.

Anyone else who might be interested, I still have four RIR chicks available at this time. Please PM me and we'll work something out.

To quote/paraphrase a bit of Robert Frost's Mending Wall:

"Oh, just another kind of outdoor game,
One on a side. It comes to little more:
There where it is we do not need the wall: ...
He only says, 'Good fences make good neighbors.'
Spring is the mischief in me, and I wonder
If I could put a notion in his head:
'Why do they make good neighbors? Isn't it
Where there are cows (chickens)? But here there are no cows (chickens).
Before I built a wall I'd ask to know
What I was walling in or walling out,
And to whom I was like to give offense.'" Robert Frost
North Of Boston
1915

(And whose business is it anyway if we are sanitary and we have no roosters or health hazards ??)

We're going to redesign our "hobby/pet holding facility" and add a privacy fence on both sides of the back yard so that nosey neighbors will never know what is going on in our yard again!
So, that stated, even though "here there are no (chickens)" or a flock (for a while) we will be working diligently on getting the ordinance changed to allow others like us to be able to keep out pets. And if you all don't mind, we'll keep up with the forum too. Always nice to read what's going on in the chicken world in Oklahoma. We'll get to some auctions and would like to meet you all.

I still need to check into getting feed from Carnegie. Keep saying by the time a pay gas to drive there I won't save much. Was looking @ the okfarm report site. Reading about how scarce corn is this yr. Prices are only going to get higher.

Was getting a space cleared out for the deer feeder & camera tonight. Guess if the deer take to eating from the feeder I can get more corn in Carnegie.

Michael sounds like you may have hit on a new chicken feed! I totally understand the need for that! I'm going to check on the price of other feeds at my feed store and see what they have.

janbcoo1 glad to see you are abideing but not giving up! They always told me threw is more than one way to skin a cat!All else fails you may have to get a shed and raise bantams or seramas inside! Okie June Bug raises a lot of seramas(and I mean a lotLOL) inside her pet grooming store. And they are as neat and clean as any pet shop I have ever walked in. As is proven by her great wins on the show circuit! So don't give up,there will be a way if there is a will!

Beautiful day here, spent most of it outside cleaning up used lumber tah my neighbor gave me. Pack rat that I am I jsut couldn't let him burn it! Found me a flock of 20 parakeets on craigslist, going to pick them up friday. Hopefully will be able to get a few for breeding and a few for tradeing/selling.

I plan on taking a trio and a pair of RIR bantams to Newcastle Sat. Not bragging, but if anyone looking for some nice show bantamsn. The two little hens in the trio are as nice as I ever seen in RIR. I will also be bringing a few 3 month old asil stags and pullets if anyone looking. They the real deal.

I have used the 5/32 calf creep for a long time. Sometimes I feed it straight, but I usually try and mix it with layer pellets and when it starts getting cold, I will add some corn chops. Its over $4 a bag cheaper than layer pellets here.
I may need to go to Carnegie though because that price is still half of what I pay.

Wow... did anyone see the BLR Wyandotte Bantam egg auction? I bid but wasn't even close, lol. $115.51 I believe was the final bid for those 12 eggs. I've been trying to find some BLR's big or little and I'm about to give up... are these beauties made of gold?
