***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Michael - neat picture of hens standing in water to cool off. I have dog dishes in my pens for that same reason, but they are much smaller, so my chickens took turns during that awful heat we had. Two small hens could stand in one dish shoulder to shoulder, but roosters had to wait in line.

It was quite warm yesterday, and in the early afternoon the goats hunted for shady spots to nap in. Milagra can sleep anywhere. This is her favorite nap spot when it's hot outside. I expect we'll see 90 today, but the remainder of the week ought to be cooler.

Good morning all. I'm heading to Claremore today to work on some horses at the track. I'm feeling a bit under the weather so I hope everything goes smoothly. I'm ready to add some pretty EEs now! I'm super excited now it's just finding some that fit the bill

Wait until they hatch and recognize your voice through the lid of the incubator! That was the most awesome thing in the world to me. Just like when my kids were born and recognized my voice. The baby chicks craned their little tiny weak necks trying to see me cuz they heard my voice lol

How funny that they can recognize voices. So far two are no longer with us. One was just not fertilized, the other just didn't make it. I must have candled it for 10min hoping to see some movement like in all the others but saw nothing. The Marans eggs are sooo hard to see through, but I was able to see the little jumping beans in most of them. So if I put them in on Monday the 19th they should be starting to hatch in 12 days or around Oct 10th, right?

Welcome to southside OKC... where someone shot at the window to my boss' office last night. *sigh* It didn't go all the way through the window because the building has all bullet resistant glass... but it prompted me to enroll in a CC course.

Now, back to my regularly scheduled coffee and perusal of my work email.
