Safeguard (Fenbendazole) horse paste will kill *all worms except tapeworms. Valbazen will kill all including tapes. The dose for both is a pea-sized drop. For big LF Cochins (like the heifers I got from Carl lol) I use 3 pea-sized drops, then repeat 10 days later. I use the Safeguard paste horse wormer because it's so easy to find. Some of the WalMarts even carry it. I'm going to order some Valbazen here soon. That way I'll only have to use *one wormer to get all worms. Ivomec injectable is good for lice &/or mites, 3-6 drops on the skin on the back of their necks.

How do you administer it to them? Do you put it in their mouth?

Edited to ask - will that also kill gape worms?

I didn't buy new paramite, valbazen, or fenbendazole because payday is tomorrow (I'm paid monthly). Plus I have to go to a different feed store... the one I went to overprices their valbazen and fenbendazole. What I have on hand will probably work... I'm pretty sure the paramite and valbazen I have in the drawer doesn't expire for a couple more months, but I hate having meds that close to their expiration dates.

Believe me, I plan on having everything on hand before Saturday! When I get BSLs and LF cochins!!!

I gotta buy bird seed (we make our own chicken treats & mash) and cheap plain yogurt and a thing of applesauce too. That's for the mash I usually make the day after a worming... provides probiotics (yogurt) and the applesauce is a gentle way to help rid their guts of dead worms.

well now you have me thinking, so the egg size is close to a regular size and for less feed??? i am looking at the blrw coloring and getting swayed to more bantams in the future....

Must be an Artist's eye but I too think blrw is such an amazing color. I don'treally like any combs but straight though or I would probably have EEs too.

i agree- the color would be quite a challenge to try to paint! but looking at my little cochin girls, little puff balls with feet- couldn't ask for a prettier group! for now, i don't know that expanding is in the near future- but i am concentrating on the bantams- cochins will always be way up there... and did you know they mumble at me when i talk to them?

I keep forgetting to post my turkey's picture. I've got 3 of them, they're 3 months old now. This one's definitely male, not sure on the other 2. Edited to add that they're Royal Palms.
Upcdayz, yes, Safeguard paste will kill gapes.
