***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I believe there is broodiness going on in the "getting-to-know-you" coop. I put some Serama eggs under her yesterday, so now I guess it's wait and see time.

Anyone have an idea what breed she might be? She pretty, but isn't the friendliest bird.

Edited to say that she is a large fowl.

The Lav hen had layed an egg in the shipping box, and the next day she layed another. I put both of them in the incubator. I talked to Stephanie (fattie), and she said she had been with a Millie Fleur Cockerel for about a week, but she didn't know if he was old enough to breed yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he was!!

I've been reading some of the mind numbing genetics threads, let's see how much has soaked in. A lav X millie fleur would produce a muted millie fleur also called porcelin right?

Correct.

Whoa whoa, slow down, the initial cross of Lav over Millie will result in a muted color near buff columbian without mottling. when the offspring from teh cross are breed back to each other you will get some porcelian (less than 10%) some self Blue (lav), some Pearle (self blue with mottling) some Millie Fluer, and other combinations.. By adding the lav / lav to the millie pattern you get porcelian.
