To answer your question this morning,yes I am going to put birds in the A-frames for winter also. I think if I cover the wire part then they will keep a dry place to scratch and dust in and be okayThe "house" part will be draft free so they should be okay.
NaNa I guess I wouln't make it as a big stock farmer,I just don't like black cows. I know they bring more,my drilled that in my head when we bought our first herd of 6 back in 2000. She has raised stock before and was more knoweledgeable than me. But I love color so I like the flashy breeds! No more than my small place will hold,I won't be making a living on them so I figure I might as well have something I like! Thinkis,longhorns,Scottish highlanders,or shorthorns or might just get some from a neighbor who has a really colorful herd. He started with holstiens and bred meat stock into them and comes out with some wildly colored calves. They should be good I would think with the milk background on the stocky bodys.
