Well, I was going to. Then I remembered that I told the Jarvises that I wouldn't be, so I can't. Hoist by my own petard.

I am going to build my wife two or three hutches, 3 foot by 4 foot, and install a thermostat controlled heat bulb in them in case thus winter gets bad again. Also going to fence in the area underneath the hutch, and ad a ramp, so on good weather they can get out and dust, eat grass, etc. My wife is crazy about her little ball type silkied seramas, and would be devastated if something happened to them, one hen in particular.

Found some outlet plugs that will thermostateically control anything plugged into them. Automatically turn power on and off according to outside air temperature...go on at 35 degree F and off at 45 degree F. They are called Thermo Cube about $3.59 each. Found them on Amazon.Com...free shipping. Each cube takes 2 three prong plugs. Card says heat tape, heat lamps, Tamk de-icers, engine heaters. (Enable..enable...enable)

Cleaned out the teen pen and hand fed Jezebel. Decided to turn some of the dirt in the hen run and in the teen pen so there were fresh worms available to the chickens when they went back in their pens. There was a lot of clucking going on!

Gonna try to take a nap and then make soap. Check in later.

Reading in an old Poultry mag last night. Suggests running med chick started thru a blender or coffee grinder to make the crumb size small enough for the Seramas and baby bantams at least fr the first two weeks or so. Sounds like a good idea. They will waste the big crumbs trying to find the ones small enough to eat.

We raise old English and seramas, and have no problems with them eating crumbies. Imo, grinding if up is wasted effort

BTW, we have a couple banties free for someone to pick up. A red Pyle modern game bantam cock, and a light dun colored old English pullet. They are free picked up here. PM me.

Ok, how is this for enabling? We have a pair of seramas free, to help someone get started in them that is as strapped for cash ad we are. They are this year's hatch, the cockerel had good type, is colored like a spangled, and the hen is a mottled. They are smooth feathered, probably both going to be class C, but nice color and type. They MUST be picked here, first come first serve.
