***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Well, I just thought maybe they'd need as much room as LF's or something since they're so active and can fly so well. I don't want to have to clip their wings. I'm already planning on some cool branches for their pen. These 4 I've got are so cool.

I would never ever clip a birds wings. If they do manage to escape, you have taken their best survival tool from them. Ten Bantams will fit just fine in that pen.

We've got fences inside of fences here. I have clipped a couple of their wings but so they'd quit flying over the fence into the outside fenced area. I don't have any birds aside from the OEGBs that can fly anyway. The most a few of mine could do is flap like crazy to get to the top of a fence and then hop over it, those are the ones I clipped their wings.

He is a reza asil. He gets along with his hens just fine. Any hen is likely to fight a rooster until they get used to him, asil hens are simply better at it, lol. He can handle his hens just fine however. He didn't get named Captain for nothing.

Well he's beautiful. I'd build a pen special for a boy like that. Course by the time I bought one I wouldn't have enough money left for Reza Asil hens and I'd have to give him some Sex Link hens or something to keep him busy lol
Old Cowboy-weren't Asils what you were going to pick up from Teach? What are yours like, Teach?

I am keeping select few of my very best birds up in my barn for the winter, just to make sure the predators don't get them. He is one of them.

Ksane I have clipped a few wings here and in the past. I have tops on my pens, six foot chainlink sides. Some of these dang chickens I got will fly up to the top of side and woller thru the tops. Very tough to do, but figure if they want out that bad, clipping their wings will keep them secure. I actually do it more for their safety than anything, I am afraid they will get hung up sometime.

Like Captain?? I take it you know people who might know where I could get one? I'd love it, seriously. I've wanted something like that for a long time and get side-tracked. I was always going to get one of the oriental game breeds in the spring. I'll have his room ready and waiting if I could find one. Spring is a good time, too.

Agreed. I don't like doing it but with mine it's for their own safety also.
Matt, I'd keep that boy put up and safe, too! I don't blame you a bit. You probably have more predators around you that we do here, too. Mine do get locked up at night. That's from listening to horror stories from all you guys.
