Silly, I know what NPIP is. My flock is certified. What I am asking is , who or what are you saying you have to be NPIP certified for? You can show your chickens without it and you can sell your chickens without it. I don't know who said you HAVE to be Certified? And NPIP only test for Typhoid and Pullorum, not flu of any kind.

I believe, at least for the bigger shows, your birds do have to be NPIP tested. Could be wrong

Probably so. I wouldn't want to take my birds in somewhere that wasn't tested. At Shawnee they tested some that we're not NPIP certified at the door as they came in.

I would like to start using leg bands, my goal is to sort the birds by yr hatched (so I know when my laying hens are past their prime) also put different bands on the suspected Roos & I want to mark the fastest growing birds, so I save them to use for reproducing my DP flock. Think I may also want to mark the hens with a 2nd band after they moult - more for my own curiosity.

Does anyone know of a place that sells a multipack of leg bands-- a supersized pack with lots of different colors maybe 8 or so? Most places I see have single colors-- may just have to order a bunch of small packs.

Any thoughts? Or am I thinking to hard about this on my own?

and whats an officially back in the saddle howdy then showing off our two ladies

Goldilocks and Red riding hood... Yes we only have two girls for now as there is TOOO MUCH TO DO with still getting settled(we got our household goods about 3 weeks ago and even though its not as scary it once was.. there is still plenty of disorganization.. which is what I am trying to accomplish with organizing the chaos.. More poultry or animals wont come till later but until that time we enjoy the cackle and sassyness of these two New Yorker Chicks... ( They experienced their first eating of corn with us when the temps starting dipping.. and they looked at us like we were insane... as if we were tossing them something from outta this world.. but now they are coming around to our Oklahoma ways... ha ha ha

I want to be NPIP, I ship chicks and birds and I sell to 4H. This is a personal preference. I do not show birds but not all shows require NPIP but the larger shows do. When I sell a bird, chicks or eggs to some one they know that we are pullorum typhiod clean. You would be suprised how many people will Just buy from only an NPIP Flock even if they are not certified. There is more of a market for NPIP flocks to sell. What my point is that if I buy birds from someone local they MUST be Npip. The birds will still be seperated in a seperate coop for 30 days.

Matt, an egg could be blocking her poop. They come down the same plumbing.

Only thing I would know is to try and flush her out with some molasses or buttermilk. Might also try half of an infant size suppository.
